Hiya all.

I am thinking about upgrading my 16X which i have had for 3 years now.

I would like something with suspension basically. Top speed is not important but it would be nice to be able to do 25mph without being on the limit as I am with the 16X, which is a bit unnerving at times.

Range is not important as most of my rides are 10-15 miles max.

Just into cruising around country lanes and gravel paths.

if the 16X had suspension it would be the wheel I would look at I guess.

im really out of touch with what’s available these days.

I’m looking to buy 2nd hand and would like something that’s “tried and tested” like the 16X is with no known issues.

Any thoughts?
£1500 max if that’s possible?

thanks 🙏

I mean, if you want something £1500 or (~$2000) then start there. Secondly, do you want used or new? Then, you want suspension. And reliability. Those are your main things it sounds like.

Looking at ewheels wheels that fit your criteria, I see a few options:

  • Falcon
  • Inmotion v11Y
  • KS16S PRO
  • T4 PRO
  • KS S22 PRO

I'd just tell you what I'd get...

  • Out of all those wheels, I'd personally go with the KS S22 PRO, but it's selling for roughly 2.2K, which is 200 more than the 2K mark you wanted, so I just won't count that one I guess.
  • The falcon is too low battery for me.
  • The KS16S PRO is too gimmicky for me and looks uncomfortable
  • The Inmotion v11Y, although a newer iteration, is too outdated for my likes and the suspension probably is the worst out of the bunch (just guessing)
  • The T4 might be a good option but the suspension is probably not the best in comparison to others. The price is a little high when comparing to others here as well.

I'd probably end up picking the Falcon IF the battery was larger, but for the overall bang-for-the-buck I'd be willing to overlook the gimmicky colors and weird speaker and probably pick the KS16S PRO. I really don't know much about this wheel, but KS has a pretty good track record of reliable and safe wheels (minus the s20). Also, the battery is larger, it's a strong EUC with suspension, it's at your price point, and it has a lot of features. And just by the looks of the pictures on ewheels, it looks pretty solidly built.

If it was an used wheel I'd look for the more advanced/extreme wheels, or older advanced/extreme wheels at a discounted price.

*EDIT: I see you said you'd be willing to get a 2nd-hand wheel, which I just re-read but am too lazy to edit my original post

That list is decent. I’d add the ks S18 as well. You can get a used one in that price range.

Thanks. I purposely left out the S18 as it is described to be dangerously weak with bad suspension and at nearly 2K it seems overpriced by comparison.

I NEVER thought I would actually consider a Begode wheel, but it seems like Begode Blitz provides most bang for buck, and would naturally have extremely high resale value to boot.

Just curious, which was the last Begode wheel that had a high resale value. Master dropped in price. So has the EX30. In fact, if it wasn't for MAP pricing enforcement, the prices wouldn't have gone back up temporarily, then down again for some models.

On paper, there were some Extreme Bull and Begode wheels that have been considered by some as wheels that provide most bang for the buck. Some examples were: T4 Pro, Master V4, Commander Mini.

For myself, during the pre-order hype, the EX30, as well as the ET Max looked to be the ultimate wheels. As least until I had a chance to ride them.

In contrast, the wheels that stood out for me, not on paper, but based on first ride impressions were: the Patton, the Lynx, and the S16 Pro. For big heavy wheels, the V13 stood out for me as well, as did the Sherman-S for butter smooth suspension action.

As for the OP, I would suggest test riding the S16 Pro.

I thought the OP wanted an upgrade. The Blitz is a nice upgrade to the 16X wheras S16 Pro is more of the same. The fact that the Begode Blitz is so heavily endorsed by ewheels carries a lot of weight with me. I just think OP would really like the upgrade that the Blitz is offering.

It’s way out of my price range

Then why are you even looking at EUC's, if you don't have the cash? Work extra hours.. Save up over 1-5 months and get what you really want..

Or are you planning to get new euc next year? I personally don't buy new EUC every year. But when ever i choose to get new one - i buy what i want/need, price doesn't matter. I like to imagine that most people have some $$$ put aside for fun/rainy day.. (Or is it only me?)

Anyways your best bet is Falcon. Or if weight isn't a problem get something decent. Price range be dammed. Skip some takeouts, don't go drinking with friends, or in general skip something where you waste money unnecessary and get yourself a amazing wheel. That you can keep for YEARS.. EUC's in general are expensive - why are you cheaping out now. :D

I don't have the cash for this particular suggested EUC @ £2500.

My budget is £1500

Save up.. :) Or get same performance wheel as 16X - people gave great suggestions..

And my budget is well over 5k - i simply don't like to spends money. Especially if i see something that cost 2-5k and is crap/poorly made.

@weheyI understand that the Blitz doesn't really fit your criteria, I just threw the idea out there because it could be an exciting upgrade for you. Personally, I'm not really convinced that suspension is all that. I don't have suspension and while I'd welcome suspension with an upgraded wheel, I don't know that it would make for that much of a better wheel all things being equal. Happy wheel shopping. You have lots of choices. Enjoy your process.

Actually, thinking back on this, I wouldn't go for the Falcon for me personally because it's too small, max goes 31 mph with full battery, low battery capacity, etc. I think the 16X is a different class of wheel (medium-size). I would consider the Falcon more in the class of the mTens, as a smaller wheel -- not exactly a daily commuter for regular 25 mph, but within that smaller class is one of the better/best ones. I still think the KS16S PRO is the best for the money, speed, power, etc. and considering your needs, but as a new wheel. You can find even better used wheels at good prices if you look for them.

Also, to reiterate, the S18 is the most "antique" of them all and could be considered a downgrade from the 16X, even with suspension. I didn't even think it's worthy to be put on the list I made earlier.

They both are medium.. Both are same weight and both have same speed. Falcon just have suspension instead of battery. Also better, more robust build out of metal.

Keep the 16x its a great wheel i love mine, and save up enough for the S16pro (i hear its 2K in Euros, which is close to your budget).  I just got my S16pro its great wheel, you can watch my review. The speed is no problem on this EUC, the only issue i have is the trolley handle. I also have S18/16x and did a comparison of S16pro on my channel. I'm waiting for my Falcon to come in now.

Yeah, you're right. Probably same class. From the few videos I've seen with people reviewing the Falcon on YouTube, it just looks tiny.

If an "upgrade" is concerned, it's not much of an upgrade to go from the 16X to the Falcon imo, even considering suspension.

Yeah the 16X is a pretty good wheel eh. Maybe i should just stick with it?

Yes Stick with the 16X (save money then get a better one), the Trolley handle on the 16X is the best! and its a really good EUC. I still use mine, sometimes I don't like riding with suspension because i want to feel the road/path

FYI: I have found out all wheel weight is held by small while plastic built inside the handle 18xl/16x = same handle design.. My handle snapped off at one side while carrying. Seems like one of those "pug-go ball pegs" that pop inside the handle to lock the sliding mechanism weren't locked in fully and that made one side of handle to pop out of position while carrying - breaking it.

When i disassembled the handle - i found out that all the weight is held by small white plastic inside the handle. Even while carrying and handle is in lowest position, (closed) it still is held by those white plastics..

Same thing happened to my dad and his KS16S..

Waterproof alone would be a selling point for me.. As in fall i ride every 3rd day in heavy ass rain. Same for winter - snow melts in room temp and wheel is dripping wet for HOURS.. Also suspension? I'm not sold onto suspension, but it's something? :D That metal build also is an upgrade.

It's more or less same wheel size as KS16S (40CM in diameter - 16x2.125" My 18xl is 48Cm - 8Cm bigger. Doh that fat M/C tire is something - also you got so many options of aftermarket tires. Where old wheels 2.5" or less in width have ZERO M/C tires.. I have mounted K66 tire on my 18xl and still needed to cut sides to get it narrower.)

Speed of 27mph is plenty. And range also - instead of charging it every second weekend i would need to charge falcon every weekend. Also it has that fast charger - i could charge it fully in just hour or two. Where on 18xl i need to charge 8hrs from 50% to 100%+balancing.

Only thing i don't like is - it's lack of carry handle and motor kill switch near missing handle. :D

Good to know, they should of reinforced it with metal. I will remind myself to be gentle when lifting, now
