ScriptyChris Posted July 17 Posted July 17 Hi, I ride on my 16X since October last year - it's my first EUC. So far i've ridden 2k kilometers on it. I rarely let battery to go down below 40-50%. Recently i had a weird situation. I was slowly riding on a smooth pavement and there was a few square meter gravel spot. I rode over gravel a few times so far, so i went slowly to avoid slipping. After less than a meter i felt some resistance, so i just stepped out from the wheel and it turned/tilted forward as it had a cut off (without sudden/hard fall). I took the wheel from that gravel, but i couldn't turn it on - i tried holding the power switch for a longer few seconds or click it quickly and nothing. I flipped the EUC to the side and checked if its wheel was rotating freely (i thought maybe something was stuck there), but it moved ok. I touched the top where motherboard is and it was just warm (i already had felt it when it was warmer during charging or after more heavy riding) and i noticed in the EUC World app that recent max temp was 45 degree Celsius - so it should be fine i guess (i've seen it going up to 55-60 sometimes). I didn't smell any burn nor saw any smoke. I came back home by taxi. After like an hour i tried to turn the wheel on again and it just woke up for a second - cooling fan, LEDs and 1 beep, but then it automatically powered off again. I repeated attempt and it didn't turn on. After some other while i tried again and it yet again turned on for a second, and then gone sleep. The next day i took off the shell to check if fuses are fine - they were ok. Then i pushed the power button and EUC casually woke up. I turned it off and turn on again - no problem. I took it for a ride and no problems either. I tried to Google that issue, but the closest i found was about a broken fuse - but i think then EUC wouldn't turn on at all and not go back to its normal state after a while? About possible cut off on gravel - is it possible that such surface gives too much resistance (because wheel may "bury" into it), which causes cut off? I am mostly concerned about 2 things: why EUC didn't raise any alarm/beep before the cut off? I thought EUCs beep by default before cut off why EUC wouldn't turn on immediately, but instead after about an hour it turned on for a second, then do a self-fix after a few hours? Is there any cool off time for engine/mainboard/battery? It's just a pity that in case such cut off happens while riding far from "civilization", a rider has to go back by their feet Thank you for any ideas! 1 Quote
ScriptyChris Posted July 17 Author Posted July 17 I attach two videos: right after the incident (EUC won't power on) and after about hour, when EUC powers on only for a second. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1iVKbTjUxwOtVqPk-7ttgrD2qXxa2_8vj/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ib1y8okhY1OM6Q-EImjQA3ZRMgzpl6ri/view?usp=sharing Quote
UniVehje Posted July 18 Posted July 18 That’s not normal. I would contact your dealer as it’s still a warranty case if you bought it new. This is the worst kind of fault because you don’t know the cause. It can be dangerous if it happens again in higher speed and the root cause is still unfixed. Maybe a new board just in case? Quote
ScriptyChris Posted July 19 Author Posted July 19 Yes, i still have a warranty. I just thought such issue is not that difficult to diagnose and fixing may be done without giving the EUC for maintenance to a dealer. Quote
