dmethvin
Those of you who have cameras, what do you recommend? The Gopro is nice of course, although probably the most expensive way to go. There are some inexpensive clones at Aliexpress that include all kinds of accessories. It would be nice to have one that can be used on a selfie stick, helmet, or unicycle mount and quickly changed among different mounts for different points of view. John Eucist
The clones are real good. I have both a genuine GoPro Hero 3+ Black and one of those clones you linked. I don't see much difference between the two. The only thing that stands out with the real GoPros are the modes where you can shoot at 240fps. Although it's possible there are inferior clones out there. I bought mine at a physical shop in Shenzhen but it looks like the one you linked. Gimlet
I've just got myself a GoPro Hero Black but to be honest I've always got my S5 phone with me and it takes great videos.Just have huge problems uploading them because I'm in the sticks with a 2k connection speed and only 500Mb upload. Even that is a bit hit or miss.
SerpentineGX
I just picked up the Sony AZ1 mini cam. I like the form factor and can control it with my iPhone. I haven't used it yet though.
Michael Vu
I use a Sony FDR-X100V which is the highest end model Sony Action cam out right now. The picture quality is better than a GoPro and has GPS built in for overlayed shots. Here is some video I've shot with it on my uni.
dmethvin
Oh that's an awesome feature! Wish the camera wasn't so expensive though. I think I may start with a GoPro clone and see how that goes.
One Swede
Michael, Do you know if any of the lesser models have the same feature (GPS overlay)?
Michael Vu
The Sony HDR line also has GPS capabilities. Cheapest one I see is $200 on Amazon.http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Definition-Action-Camera-HDR-AS30V/dp/B00EVIBN8U
SerpentineGX
If image stabilization isn't that important to you then you might want to check out this TCL SVC-200 for $95.85(USD) from Amazon. From the reviews I've seen this is a great little camera with a screen.http://www.amazon.com/SVC200-Waterproof-Surveillance-FHD1920X1080-Accessories/dp/B00BTWAO0O/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1433778641&sr=8-3&keywords=tcl+cam
One Swede
I found the HDR-AS200V for a reasonable price (2500 SEK) and I've been watching a few videocomparisons on youtube.I must say it's quite impressive, especially for the form factor.Gotta have one, but for the moment I do not need the 4K so 200V is pretty optimal.
