Frank Fan Posted June 24 Posted June 24 Today, my Inmotion v8f turned on ok at the beginning, and then I stepped on and started riding, the EUC vibrated forwards and backwards violently. I turned it off and turned it back on, it appears like this in the video, and the voice cannot be turned off. Any idea what had gone wrong? I bought it in 2020 and there is probably 500km mileage on it. Any idea where and how much it would cost to have it repaired? I am in Toronto Canada. 1 Quote
Frank Fan Posted June 24 Author Posted June 24 UPDATES: Inmotion android app still connects to the v8f, and in Diagnosis it says: Your vehicle is in an abnormal condition, Motor, the motor hall failed, you may need to replace the motor. Quote
alcatraz Posted June 25 Posted June 25 Hall sensors are in the motor and there are 5 small wires going along the motor wires to the control board. If you have loose stuff flying around inside the motor making grinding noises then the failure is probably in the motor. If not you could perhaps check the connector and cable going to the board. Pop the side cover off and the take off the board panel. Anything obviously wrong with the hall sensor cable? Quote
Frank Fan Posted June 25 Author Posted June 25 I am not very handy, so I have not opened the case yet. Maybe I will find a friend to check it for me. Thank you for your advice. Quote
alcatraz Posted June 26 Posted June 26 Spin the motor by hand and listen. Can you produce a grinding noise? On my V8 motor that I tried to fix I also figured out that it's a hall sensor issue. It's enough for a magnet to be slightly damaged like a crack, for the hall sensor to malfunction. Quote
Frank Fan Posted June 29 Author Posted June 29 UPDATES: I disassembled v8f and found a broken axle. Quote
Frank Fan Posted June 29 Author Posted June 29 Can anyone recommend a repair shop in or near Toronto Canada? Quote

Funky Posted June 29 Posted June 29 Easiest thing one can do is right-out buy new motor. Or find CNC shop and try figuring out all the correct sizes for aftermarket axle. Or hope shop have a broken wheel that can be used to get a donor axle. 1 Quote

EZBike has no parts and asked me to find the parts myself and they will repair it for me. SmartWheel sells the parts but it is on back-order. I have to replace the whole motor, not the axle only. The motor costs $387+HST. Both reps are very nice and helpful. But it just costs too much to repair an EUC with design flaws. It would be better to buy a new EUC. 2 Quote

What design flaw? It's well know that those smaller/older wheels have weak axle. Most new/modern euc's have better axle. Also if you're buying whole motor - it's same as changing tire. You can do it yourself. Yeah it sucks when something breaks on our euc's - most parts are expensive. Board 300$. Motor 300$. Battery 600$ per pack. You need to be ready to pay up when something goes bad, or breaks. Otherwise quit riding euc. Quote
Frank Fan Posted July 7 Author Posted July 7 I am not very heavy and I did not abuse the euc, but the axle broke. I think inmotion should have used a thicker axle. I am afraid I might break the new axle again. :-( Quote

(i'm 280lbs) I don't jump at all and each time i go over bigger bump - i worry that i will break my axle. I broke my axle "dot" welds (welds that hold axle in place.) by simply doing pendulum... (Had to open motor and re-weld them.) Edited July 7 by Funky Quote

I rarely used trolley in extended position. Maybe 50 times over 3 years. And one day it simply snapped off while carrying. I found out that all wheel weight is held by small white plastic inside the handle. I simply screwed one big bolt true all extending parts - now i simply have a carry handle. No more extending trolley handle. I already have the replacement part sitting in closet. I simply don't need the trolley handle yet. At winter while changing tire i will replace it. Because at winter i need the trolley handle.. Some times you can't ride true snow and you need to get off and walk. Check out Falcon from begode - it's way better. (In my option.) Tubeless tire - add slime you won't need to fix a flat ever. (I also use slime in my 18xl.) And it has all metal build. Even handles are made out of metal. Not like 18xl.. alcatraz Posted July 10 Posted July 10 It's a good wheel up to 25km/h. I suggest you to not stay at max speed for long periods. The electrical safety margin is low at 30km/h. Especially if you're heavier. Remember that the chinese that built it usually weigh like 50-70kg. Quote
