moarmoto Posted June 9 Posted June 9 (edited) I have Master V3 50E (the version before the current V4 with 50S and 3 digit speedometer. Board says Master2). This morning, I updated the firmware to the latest that was available on EUCWorld (I picked the latest, without thinking too much. So I believe it was GW2015104?). For some reason, it got stuck at 78% and the app was unresponsive. So I went through the procedure of putting the wheel in recovery mode (?) by disconnecting/reconnecting battery to the board, doing the whole spin-kill/power button combo. I saw EUCWorld starting firmware update when I loaded the app. It completes. What I noticed, is that the display became all wonky. Odometer, ride mode stuck at all 6, battery bar doesn't light up, speedometer doesn't change, etc. The wheel balances and features like race mode, PWM tiltback, all seem to be working based on tinkering on the app. I wanted to try reverting back to maybe previous version, so I did try via EUCWorld. Again, it got stuck at 78%, so I went through the whole thing. The display issue still persisted. So this time, I went to Begode official app to do firmware update. I tried a few and the ones with prefix Master4 seem to work (the 2 different versions of Master 4_GW2015104 with different timestamp that exist as of today) but not Master 2.X (MasterV2.4_GW2015102 for example). It stops at 1% and doesn't proceed further. What I noticed then is that the Begode app says it's Master 4. It appears to me, that when I first did the update via EUCWorld, it let me do the update with Master V4 firmware. Now the Begode app thinks I'm on Master V4 and won't let me revert to Master V2.4 firmware. I found out from EUCWorld log that I was on GW2015103 previously, but likely on V2.X. So I tried to revert it to GS2015103 on EUCWorld. Again, stops at 78% so I went through the whole process again. It finishes, but the display issue still persists. On the Begode app, it's listed as Master 4. @Seba I think there might be an issue with picking the latest firmware. It was my understanding that EUCWorld only let you update firmware that matches your wheel. Is it possible to maybe have the official V2.X firmware loadable to Master 4 via EUCWorld app temporarily (name it to something so that others don't use it)? In the meantime, if anyone has any idea on how to apply V2.X firmware, I'd greatly appreciate it. Edited June 9 by moarmoto extra info Quote

Last two digits are the version of the firmware. EUC World matches firmware according to the first five digits and - at least to date - this worked without any problems. However, it should be mentioned that Begode is a total mess when it comes to firmware. Therefore, virtually anything is possible with this company. More than once in the past it turned out that freshly released firmware caused problems with the operation of the wheel. It's as if firmware testing at this company doesn't exist at all. Yeah, after looking around it more, looks like my board initially had FW GW2015103, even though my wheels is supposedly 'V3' with master2 board(As sticker indicates). My EUC world username is momotoji. If you could help me out, I'd really appreciate it. Quote

I'm not sure if this will help you, but you can always try. In EUC World I have exposed a GW2015101 firmware that was released at 2023/09/21. It is internally named as "Master", without any version suffix. 19 hours ago, moarmoto said: My EUC world username is momotoji. If you could help me out, I'd really appreciate it. I've looked at the database and when you've first rode your Master, it was running firmware GW2015103 that was internally named "Master". Quote

I started the update, but it got tuck at 76.6%. But I was able to recover it and had it updated fully. Good news. The wheel now thinks it's 'Master' and not 'Master4'. Bad news. The display issue is still there and when I free spin, it has weird motor noise once speed picks up. Tried V2.x FW update but they all stop at 1%, as expected. I'm in touch with Levi from Begode on FB messenger but I don't think he fully understands the problem. I've asked him to provide GW2015103 for 'Master' but the response I got was, 1) it looks like I should be using V2.2 GW2014908 [I tried it, stops at 1%] 2)I should use Begode app 1.0.27 on Android [from where? Lol, Begode website link leads to 1.0.14 which I updated to 1.0.18 within the app. Apkpure has 1.0.20, which is what I had originally] Quote

dignome Posted June 22 Posted June 22 (edited) FYI this happened to me as well. EUC world is making an Master4 firmware update available to us wheel owners that actually have Master/GW2015103 board. I ended up purchasing a new board as Begode never got back to me with the proper firmware. Edited June 22 by dignome Quote
moarmoto Posted June 23 Author Posted June 23 I think I completely bricked the firmware. Tried the cable method but seems like bootloader is wiped? Anyways, going to buy a new board. I'm thinking of converting into Master 4 50E (3 digits, 35 mosfet boards, top tray etc). There shouldn't be any issue using master v4 board with 50e right? Someone said firmware is tailored to battery and there's a chance that it'll ask to pull more amps than 50e is capable of. But that's if I'm really pushing wheel isn't it. But does Begode really do that? (Ie. Was there difference in FW between 40t vs molicel vs 50e) Quote
moarmoto Posted July 6 Author Posted July 6 Update. Ended up buying 'v3' board from AliExpress. Wheel works now and I could update to latest 2.4xxxxx firmware. Quote
