SpinDaWheel Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 Hi, I did write 4 paragraphs on this then tried to upload it when i found i wasn't logged in and lost it all, so here it is, minus my life story as it pertains to euc's, price is in Thai baht so will need to convert a bit, cheapest i could find in the world (including china) I went to last year to check them out, not as cheap as you might think! (lost paragraph 1) tested them in Scotland and India, (lost paragraph 2 posthumously called Cow poop is an issue) Went back to bangkok to order one online, then after a bit of online checking found the cheapest distributor ironically to be in the city i was trying to order from. The rest was just a theory about maybe them being brought overland to avoid export charges, but knowing the Thai they are most likely just buying in bulk between a few people, (exept they dont give a tourist tax back paper...so....yeah! just got my mcm4 hs 340 for 480usd 2 months old but unused, unfortunaly after arriving in cambodia for 3 hours i was kicked off the wheel in an attempted wheel jacking, leaving me much more damaged than the resilent gotway, that might explain why you might feel a bit of tention in this post, hopefully not the ramblings of a concussion as i cant even remember hinting my head
Makoben Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 @SpinDaWheel just to make sure a "wheel jacking" means someone attacked you and tried to steal your wheel? This is the first time I have heard of this injury. Regardless, I wish you a speedy recovery and hope this hasn't soured you on riding. Mike

Mike Just as you thought, kicked me from behind on a motor bike, typical technique in Cambodia, its my own fault for going around at night in such a poor country when its just before Cambodian new year which is the worst time for theft, Thanks for the concern though, it was after when i was escorted back to my hotel by a kindly (rare) Cambodian cop that i realized how much more painful my injuries to the knees would have been if i had walked back or taken any other form of transport, that was a good ride and i learned a valuable lesson (and i got a very high powered blue laser pointer in Bangkok i am going to carry as a non-lethal deterrent once i recover)
Hunka Hunka Burning Love Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 Yikes that's awful. Did the perp manage to steal your ride? For something this new, I'd be hesitant to ride in an unknown area as you just draw attention to yourself. Even riding in my neighbourhood I just want to ride around and mind my own business, but everyone looks and stares. I'm "that guy with the electric unicycle" in my neighbourhood. While on holiday I much prefer to blend in with the crowd and not be a target to attract unwanted attention although I did sorely miss riding while I was on vacation last month. Welcome to the forums by the by. I'm sure it just gets better from here.
WakefulTraveller Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 That's a great price for the MCM4. I just bought the MCM3 for a little over 500 when on sale, but it seems like you got the better deal. It seems like you like you still have your wheel, which is very fortunate.

Thank!! they stopped their bike and looked to see if i had been incapacitated, i jumped to my feet to prove otherwise, and they sped off, i was lucky to say the least, i have been living asia to long and got complacent, cheers again, always nice to find a community of like minded people. i was also thinking about a battery rental system for travelers who dont want to leave there freedom at home, but where to start beats me!

I am not trying to advertise for them but it just seams so cheap! feel i should spread the word.
WakefulTraveller Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 Their wheels would probably be very expensive to get into the U.S. or even Europe, that is if they even offer to send them to these locations. They would almost certainly have issues sending the batteries on-board planes. It's a little bit shocking how cheap most things are in second and third world countries, and how much first world countries tend to pay for the same things. It's like we're paying this outrageously premium on everything.
