ursi Posted May 22 Posted May 22 As far as I can tell, KS is still making new version of a lot of their old releases, and I have heard that some of them now come with a smart BMS, but I'm having a hard time finding which ones do and which ones don't. Quote
RagingGrandpa Posted May 22 Posted May 22 The battery packs would require major rework to add bluetooth reporting of individual cell voltages. I don't think KS has added it to any model that didn't debut with it. AFAIK: S18, 16X, and smaller models: No S22, S19, S16: Yes 1 Quote
alcatraz Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Most riders that have smart bms don't use them. It's good in case there's a problem. So it's a weird subject. As long as overcharge protection works solid in a dumb bms you're pretty much safe. Don't get me wrong. It's nice to have but if you don't it's probably not worth obsessing about. Observe your max charge level over time to spot pack issues eatly. 1 Quote

The wiring is there to report individual group voltages. For example, an 18XL has two 20S3P packs, and includes wiring to sense voltages for all of the 3 cell groups, which is used to balance the pack when charging. Quote
Magovec Posted May 23 Posted May 23 There is a comparison that might help you. Not only from Smart BMS point of view... Table Quote
RagingGrandpa Posted May 23 Posted May 23 @Magovec your table says 16X V2 has "smart bms" - based on what? (Could you share evidence that it reports individual cell voltage to a user display?) Thx Quote
Magovec Posted May 23 Posted May 23 It is not my table. It was assembled some time ago by WrongWay. I was just aware of it and by seeing the question here above I thought it might help. Here is the source https://wrongway.info/comparisons-1 Quote
Tomallo Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Fyi, this table is outdated. It might be a good idea to contact him to change it, as he himself recently posted a community post on youtube that he mistakenly thought these new versions of older king song wheels have a smart BMS 1 Quote
