I think in the "?pebble watch for ks16?" Thread was written, that the fan state (on/off) is sent over bluetooth with the other data.

Hopefully this is a measured value and not the "wish" from the firmware... If so the monitoring could at least be made by an app - if there is not already some alarm implemented in firmware.

I don't remember/haven't seen any report here about a failed fan/alarm of a ks16 - but they are are quite new.

For the ks16 there seems to be no real inlet/outlet vents for the fan, but the leaks in the compartment seem to be sufficient. Imho there was already a report here of a heavier rider going uphill at high ambient temperatures stating that the fan works great.
