bpong Posted March 5, 2023 Posted March 5, 2023 i know its a long shot, but would totally disconnecting the battery packs from the controller board prevent any possibility of fire ? im aware that due to the complex build of these eucs, it would be quite difficult to disconnect and reconnect battery packs before and after a ride....however, may be for future design considerations, adding this ability for the battery packs on an euc would certainly reduce the possibility of fire. just throwing this idea around.... bp Quote
mrelwood Posted March 5, 2023 Posted March 5, 2023 There are several situations that can cause battery fires, and disconnecting the batteries prevents only one of them. It doesn’t help with charging a failed or badly unbalanced battery, or BMS/battery pack failures. It can however prevent overloading or over depletion of the batteries if you fry the controller. But monitoring the charging and discharging behavior of your pack is what truly makes the biggest difference in fire safety. 2 1 Quote
