I made a topic for the EUC specs, and now it turns the "featured" -flag on (almost) every time I edit it. Sometimes even if I de-select the "Feature Topic"-option before posting the edits, it gets turned back on.

Only started happening after this latest update?

Think I've had a problem with private messaging.

Should I be able to see a record of all the messages I've sent?
I wrote a message earlier, had trouble sending as it claimed I hadn't given it a title but I had!  When it eventually sent, a message definitely came up confirming it had sent.
I now see no record of it so I don't know whether to try again!

I am hesitant regarding Tapatalk because, from my experience, all forums that support Tapatalk will keep nagging the user about installing Tapatalk even if they don't want to.  Secondly, since this forum software (IPS 4) is generally a new major release, they are going through weekly updates with bug fixes and I don't want to introduce an extra variable to cause potential problems.  Perhaps later when it's more stable I'll reconsider.
As for using your country's native language for the "Local Group Meet Ups" sub-forum I agree with @esaj that it is fine.  Just keep it English elsewhere.

Yeah, fuck tapatalk. Some of the worst most annoying crap I know of.

...I think John disabled it....

Ah, I see!
I was in there chatting a few weeks ago & was just noseying around tonight as I'm home alone!
Instead of going to bed, I'm acting like a petulant teenager & wondered if there would be anyone in there to talk with - that's when I noticed it had disappeared!

Is it just me or has the chat room disappeared?!

Yeah chat room has been disabled at the same time the other stuff was removed.  Trying to keep things simple.

Think I've had a problem with private messaging.

Strange.  Yeah you should be able to see a record.  Does anyone else have this problem?  Can anyone confirm that it works for them?

Cheers.
I eventually tried sending a message again and this time it went as I expected & I see a record of it.
It definitely made out that it had sent previously but with no record - I'm going to presume it was just a one-off, momentary bug!

Well the forum version has been updated a few days ago and many times in the past.  Hopefully it was a bug that has been fixed.

OW! OW! OW!

That's me banging against all the rearranged features in the latest version. It will take a few days before I can figure out whether I like it or not.

I did notice that the icons on the toolbar are a little messed up, that may be a cache issue so I'll try clearing it.

No Longer Included

  • Areas such as View New Content, My Content, My Followed Content, Status page and so on are replaced by the new Activity Streams
  • Sphinx is no longer supported as an alternative search engine. We are evaluating alternative search technology for a future release.
  • Changes to the eAccelerator made it incompatible with IPS Community Suite so support has been removed.

Additional Information

The security update in this release fixes an issue that could possible allow for commands to be executed by an administrator. The issue requires social engineering and clicking on unsafe links so is not considered critical.

The new "unread content" setup is a bother, when you read a thread and go back to the unread timeline, it's gone. In the old scheme, the unread items were bold but the read ones were still there. Once you marked the site as read, closed the window, and came back it started from scratch and showed just unread content again. Most of the other tweaks seem good.

Yeah, big thumbs down to the 'new content/unread content' section I'm afraid!

@John Eucist I like the mention feature a lot better, it shows you right away that its looking for something, so you tend to wait. Also the mention is a lot more visible. But why they chose to change "liked a post" to "gave reputation" is beyond me.

I browse mainly from the unread content view, so no change there besides the icon. But I like to be able to sort differently if needed.

Thanks for all the work you put into this, I am sure its not as trivial as it was for say a phpBB3 ;)

And we need more smileys

Do the options presented after pressing "Edit this stream" after pressing "Unread Content" help resolve any of the issues you're talking about?

Yes, If I select "Everything" and "Since my last visit" I get something close to what I want. However, there does not seem to be any way to make that the default. You have to use the back button to return to the page or it will go back to defaults. Ideally I would like the "Unread Content" link to reflect the preferences I set.

The settings seem to stick for me.

Actually I just use their forum software.  Not really that much work.  :D

So after editing the stream, your link for "Unread content" at the upper right of the page reflects the change you made? It doesn't do that for me, always resets to the default for "Unread content". I can create a new stream, but that new one is not conveniently available as a link named "Unread content" at the upper right of each page on the forum. :)

You are right.  I assumed it stuck because the settings I saw reflected what I set in the past.  Currently my default is:
content items only / all content / content i haven't read / everything / everything / anytime
But whatever changes I make it gets reset to the above.  So you are correct.  Not sure if this was intentional or not on the part of the forum developers.

@Jag_Rip OK, yeah that's ... intuitive. So for everyone following along at home, here's the process:

  1. Click on the "Unread Content" link on the upper right corner.
  2. At the top it shows "Unread Content" ...  Showing all content posted since my last visit.
  3. Click on the "Edit this stream" link.
  4. Change settings to your taste, I used "Read Status: Everything" and "Time Period: Since my last visit"
  5. Click the Save as New Stream button on the left (DO NOT click Save & Update Results, it won't stick)
  6. Window pops up, enter a stream name like "My unread"
  7. You're looking at your new stream, click the gray check box next to the name to make it default.
  8. A little notification pops up on the right indicating you have changed the stream it uses when you click that link.
  9. Profit!
