UnbalancedMathematician
Wheel: Nikola 100v Mods: Molicel Battery Mod by EWheels Riding Skill: 3 months experience, avg top speed 15mph. During the rainy season-- I'd like to reduce damage risk of riding in light to moderate rain. So far I've avoided even the smallest sprinkles. However it would be great to worry less about this. Can anyone with knowedge of the Nikola 100v construction: suggest some areas for strategic water protection provide any personal experiences of riding this wheel in the rain. Note I have the zippered protective soft cover as bought from ewheels.
alcatraz
I've never handled a Nikola, but I've heard they're built like tanks. When you open up the wheel, is there any dust or dried water marks anywhere near the control board or battery packs? Have you checked for cracks? Riding in some rain or water covered roads usually comes sooner or later. Not only do you need to worry about water coming in from the top but from inside the wheel well. A tire slinging water at high pressure is more likely to get through. It's usually contaminated and leaves marks inside. If it's clean inside then you're good. Take care of getting water in the power button or perhaps the charge port. Also, if you drop the wheel or it receives a strong enough impact, you can't consider that wheel as waterproof as it was. Cracks develop over time. Water sips through cracks.
