Nikola 100v turned on without pressing power -- alternate start methods I should know about?

Recommended Posts

My new Nikola 100v beeped and turned on without pressing power button. The following details the conditions under which this occurred.

Wheel:

  • Nikola 100v Molicel P42a
  • Total Distance: 120km
  • Firmware model selected Nikola_GW1702003
  • Firmware stated is 2002

Recent changes:

  1. Firmware upgrade (unsure why GW...2003 installs 2002)
  2. Calibration

Conditions under which this occurred.

  • App Not Connected
  • Wheel off
  • Pressing on Left Side applying power pad (not hard pressing)
  • Orientation: standing upright in a home made stand

Effect:

  • Beep
  • Wheel started slowly turning against the Styrofoam diy stand.

Actions Taken:

  • Pressed power button

Result of Action Taken

  • The wheel turned off.

Question: Is there a secondary start option I am not aware of being a beginner? Has anyone experienced this? Any thoughts?

Was the wheel charging or did you plug in the charging cable before or during the event?

Forgive the memory slip -- I do know this was either during or within a min or two after charging. Frankly, I can't recall which.

Following up.

Pressing on side of shell when on can turn on the headlight, done again a few times can turn it to strobe etc. (Discovered while adjusting powerpads)

That is.... weird. Some loose connection going on somewhere, or unwanted electrical connection? And pushing on the shell moves a cable/connector somewhere?

Ask your seller (ewheels because of Molicel?) what they think of that. Maybe it's just a board error and you should get a new board? Better safe than sorry.
