Paul A
Regardless, might be better to let first adopters be the guinea pigs. New models, first batches, Begode history/reputation/patterns of quality. Sherman S seems to be having suspension issues that are coming to light now. alexbrunoeuc
I think I saw Levi (not sure) of Begode do some stairs and the kickstand looked very close to hitting them. Kinda sad to see that this could be a real issue. Hsiang definitely knows how to setup an euc. Kickstand looks robust at least 😜 Edited February 12, 2023 by alexbrunoeuc
techyiam
If you play back Hsiang's short video at quarter speed, the ground clearance was fine after dropping down one step. The problem is that the suspension was "packing down" more and more with each additional step. Clear sign of too much rebound damping.

Not sure it'd make that destruction on concrete if plastic? the kickstand is aluminum
Paul A
Do other suspension wheels rip chunks out of stairs? Begode in this instance, is a trail blazer. Literally.

I don't think any EUC can do those slatted, rounded edge ones can they ? Not enough consistent grip for vertical rise on those I reckon. When I look at the battery placement I think of how similar they are to the Sherman where the roll bar extends, but what makes the EX30 different is the suspension pushing the battery downward when riding and also the extension of the battery brackets for less clearance. This may explain why the EX30 scrapes and the Sherman doesn't doing similar activities like going down stairs, etc. Edited February 14, 2023 by BKW
Planemo
I must admit the EX30 looks bad-ass. Best so far IMO, up there with the Z10 Still using the same crappy no-name shock and non-bearing linkages though, as well as chrome stanchions (prone to rust). Looks amazing though, will be interesting to see how it pans out.
Rawnei
A Anyone with access to both the EX30 and Master able to verify if this is actually true? @GoGeorgeGo? 😁
GHOSTTE
Begode will discuss adding SMART BMS to the EX30 in the morning; I'll keep this thread posted on what I hear
GHOSTTE
No SMART BMS for the EX30, but Begode will consider putting it in later wheel models

alexbrunoeuc
Smart BMS would have been very nice to have but I think the most important thing currently is that they should work on the battery / kickstand hitting the stairs and steep slopes problem. People in the past were complaining of inmotion wheels being too safe and tilting back being unrideable with every little error and needing to be serviced lol. I honestly dont trust begode to get their smart bms right in the first iteration. Most of the EUC companies strike me as mechanical engineers first and lacking in software engineers. The amount of firmware that needs to be written, tested and proven reliable for a smart bms will take time and personally I dont think begode can just drop one in without issues anytime soon 1

Begode does not strike me as a company that gives much beyond performance first

BKW
^^the way people wave their arms and act as if they are on a tight rope and dance always bothers me lol. Other than that, cool wheel. i'm a little out of it so being lazy and not really giving any more thought on it atm

LOTS of improvements over the Master series, and it looks like quite a step up in terms of thought that gone into little details; the accessibility of tool access, superb battery boxes, improved water sealing for mainboard, headlight angle no longer distorts top cover, top cover now has metal inserts / washers to stop it flying off, and a lot of other similarly small QoL tweaks I quite like. Only bummers I can see are that they made the metal cases ridged, and therefore annoying to stick stuff to, the potential case scuffing on steps, and that they are still using those rubbish tiny wires for rear light and that shit-tastic fake 3M tape that pretends to be effective etc. Otherwise, considering that's a Begode, I am quite impressed !
