MrMonoWheel Posted October 25, 2022 Share Posted October 25, 2022 See maybe its just me, but I thought backup mode would limit the wheel to the higher cutoff voltage so you still have a "reserve" once the wheel has artificially run out, then you can enable reserve mode to get home (at a lower speed limitation). mrelwood Posted October 25, 2022 Share Posted October 25, 2022 The V11 used to have a similar (forced) system that reset at each charge. Ride down to ~3.4V/cell, and the wheel required for you to stop and enable the low battery mode from the app which then got you down to the more normal 3.15V. The stopping requirement was sudden and abrupt, and got a lot of bad feedback, so they made it an optional setting that would be remembered after a charge. I haven’t explored on the exact current behavior, I just use the mode that lets me ride all the way down to 3.15V. And I would probably use the lower mode on the ShermS as well, since I’m used to babying the power usage at low battery. If I’d buy myself the ShermS that is, which I’m not, due to the weight. So, one doesn't has to remove the pedals separately. However, that means the battery case is a structural component. This is not a bad idea since then the battery box would have to be strong enough, rather than wimpy. I did see that the bodywork includes a small (removable?) panel above this area, hopefully they've planned for some manual access to allow flushing and cleaning. Popular Post Planemo Posted October 26, 2022 Popular Post Share Posted October 26, 2022 (edited) They will always have a front facing mud guard on the upside down stanchions for MX bikes, as well as MTB (FastAce's own MTB forks have them). It's not a deal breaker if not fitted though, just means the dust seals will need replacing more often. One good thing though - the stanchions are coated. Nice one. If those external dust seals are indeed replaceable (and available) thats a very good thing. If the whole leg can be stripped down even better I would be amazed if they couldn't, given the huge nut at the top (as per usual MTB standards) which would allow oil servicing. Hopefully the bottom of the leg has a locknut which once undone would allow the stancion to pull free from the upper which then allows and inner seal servicing. The only real concern at the moment is availability of service parts such as seals etc. Hopefully EUC dealers can get stocks out of Fastace. It is still looking impressive, now we get to see more, especially if you also consider this is Leaper Kim's first attempt at suspension. I agree, for the price I think the higher voltage is mandatory and I think its best to wait till they release the 134 or 126V version of this, its release is inevitable. It's actually really good to see the low speed characteristics of this wheel in an urban environment. As someone who lives in a big city, I spend a good portion of my time riding slow and weaving through pedestrians. It looks like this wheel would handle that kind of riding well. Especially compared to the Master Pro, which is the only other real long range suspension wheel candidate right now.
