I am developing DIY additional battery case with seat.

Inspired by pictures from official GotWay FB site.

My idea is to install 3 more packs for 1360Wh total capacity (850 + 3x170)

Anyone knows price for one 170Wh battery module ?

Photos and drawings will be next.

I promise, it will not have look like letterbox ;)

;) cool idea

Would that fit ?

Dimensions:  70*140*320MM        1184Wh Battery

260Wh Battery

132Wh Battery

Can you post more Pictures ?

Thanks.

Identical type cells like I have: http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/60V-16S1P-2900mAh-NCR18650PF-rechargeable-battery-for-self-balance-scooter/105089_32462409879.html

New battery pack yellow connector looks like the same used in GotWay.

Pack size seems to be the same dimensions.

What should I do with new battery pack brown connector ?

I have not better pictures until I will disassemble wheel again.

That's called XT60.

That's a Deans or so called "T-plug / T-connector". It's probably for charging (or the XT60 is for charging and the Deans is for discharging, could be either way). You might have to replace it (or the connector after your charge port) if they aren't a match.

Edit: You can find XT60's and Deans from pretty much any RC-shop, or order them from Aliexpress (something like 5 or 10 pairs cost a couple of euros/dollars).

Thanks.

At this moment, superstructure is developed and 80% constructed.

The goal is not to make any additional GotWay body adjustment for superstructure fastening.

Superstructure is made from HDPE and has built-in bicycle seat.

Expecting space inside is for 4-5 battery packs.

Then I want to cover it with plastidip.

After testing, I will post photos.

Battery purchase will be the last and I hope I will understand how to plug in them, otherwise I will need help with it.

Hi

Plastidip is nice, but you can peel it off very easy if your legs are rubbing on it or if you crash it will just peel off easily.

For connecting the batteries you should solder yourself some splitter connector.

Or buy this 6 x XT60 Plug  and solder one male xt60 plug to the red and black banana connector.

Same for the charging port.

My Gotway got these  JST SM 2Pins Plug for charging.

You have to decide what is the best for you.

  • 3 weeks later...

UPDATE:

So, I am back after few weeks of manufacturing :)

Today I finished main structure and did first short test ride with seat. All seems to be o.k. I can sit on and ride.

GotWay has no additive holes or fasteners.

Structure is fastened inside - around the GotWay handgrip, because is halved and can be easily opened after releasing fastbelt.

Finally will be finished with bumpers, no plastidip - thx Sponge

Then I will start with electrical things.

Yes, it is !

I tested it hardly - because of my life :)

Before I start, I step on it and it keep my 80kilos.

It is HDPE and thickness is 2 - 2,5mm, half case is doubled (horizontal) has 4-5mm.

And in front of, it is tripled :)

Yes, it is !  - Strong Water Jug

GotWay can be handled with underseat handgrip.

I was able to pick it up and structure was still stable and well attached.
