Douglas Ingram Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 Has anyone else noticed how much better your Ninebot us when not connected to the app. 100% my P is most deffently more responsive.
dmethvin Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 Interesting, I wondered if the app affected things. Perhaps the processor on the main board has too much to do when the app is paired? Seems like it would be much safer if the app was serviced by a different processor and the control functions were strictly separated.
Tyred Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 I rarely drive connected to the app. Usually use it to check my statistics one I've finished riding. Prefer it that way, much more focused on the road as well.
Douglas Ingram Posted February 8, 2016 Author Posted February 8, 2016 What I'm trying to say is. If my iPhone is at home, the plates just feel much more solid, but if I take my phone and connect it to the app, it just feels a completely different machine.
Paulandjacquelyn Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Hmm....will connect today and try. I never connect so should pick up on difference if there
Rotator Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 I used the phone several times during the ride and I never have noticed any difference (firmware 1.2.2). May be the newer firmware release has more work to do with the phone interface, but it sounds very rare...
Douglas Ingram Posted February 9, 2016 Author Posted February 9, 2016 I'm wondering if this is a P issue.
chriscalandro Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 The P uses the same electronics as the E+ I have played around with this (with my P) and have noticed no difference.
MonsieurBadgerCheese Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 I'm on an E+ and I'm a relative Newbie (300 Km since Christmas - first EUC), but completely agree with this. Feels really strange when connected to the App. MBC
MetricUSA Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 I thinks looking down all the time affects your ride...too distracted...?☎

musk Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 I'd think that the stats and information viewed through the app (i.e. temp, speed, battery, etc) are being generated constantly inside the wheel regardless of whether you're connected and viewing that information through the app. Simply viewing information that's already generated shouldn't affect performance of the wheel.
dbfrese Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 1 hour ago, musk said: Simply viewing information that's already generated shouldn't affect performance of the wheel. Agreed -- but perhaps the processing overhead of actually maintaining a Bluetooth connection taxes the processor. I don't know how much processing it requires, but I suggest it as a possible reason.
Rotator Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 I suggest to any people believing the app changes the ride experience, to keep the app connected but with the device into the pocket. If it feels different yet, then would be fine to discover which firmware releases are affected. I think 1.2.2 (mine) is not affected in any way.
SuperSport Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 I connect randomly while riding. I've never noticed a difference when connected or not.
