Cold weather gear

I just put the liner in my MC jacket. I’m wearing Hillbilly full fingered gloves. I found thin glove liners on Amazon. I may need a balaclava under my helmet soon. I need to keep my helmet face shield fog-free.

I just retrofitted my full face helmet to add a deflection shield over the nose and mouth area. I was getting some fogging and blurry sections. I used some extremely thin high density foam (L200, I believe). I formed it with heat to add curves and tucked the ends under the cheek pads to hold it in place. It’s super soft and flexible so I'm not worried about getting hurt from it in the event of a crash. Most of my breath goes outs the bottom of the helmet now.

I did an hour ride today with jeans, a lazy rolling jacket, gloves and the TSG pass and I was warm for about 90% of the ride (45 degrees with crazy wind).  I was surprised how warm my head stayed in the pass and the lazy rolling neck comes up pretty high so not sure when I'll need to wear a neck warmer or balaclava.

My biggest issue right now is the wind cutting through my jeans and finding some kind of wrist protection that is compatible with the lazy rolling jacket/hoody.  I have the largest hillbillys coming so hopefully that will fix half the problem.

I've found these to be warm into the 40's so far fwiw. They are fleece-lined and have some stretch which is nice for riding.

Are they mostly just warm or are they also wind proof?

hmm, hard to say...I haven't been bothered by the wind in them when riding on windy days but I'll try to pay closer attn next time i'm out to how much wind is getting through.

They are warm, not wind proof. Flexible so you can sit and stand. Not  baggy like cargo pants, which allow the wind to enter and lets your pads slide around. adding a base layer (thermal long johns) should keep the wind and cold off your skin. You may need to go with MC winter pants if you need more protection.

Yesterday was in the low 40s, I had hillbilly's with thin liners on. My fingers still got cold. Last winter I wore Seirus Snowboard gloves with built in wrist guards, but the outer shell ripped apart and let in the wind, but they very warm. More Snowboard companies are out with gloves that have built in wrist guards, let's hope they are more durable.

My moto pants with long undies were perfect at 4F last winter.

I wear ice fishing mittens under my free eWheels wrist guards. I did have to sew a set of neoprene toe warmers into the finger part, but the combo has worked well for me (and it's easy to expose the fingers to operate the phone). A super important thing: they're waterproof!

Just pulled a pair of those lined Wrangler adventure pants out of the dryer, put on a base layer, grabbed my Nikon, rolled down to a pocket beach, left my Helmet on and took this:sunset1sm3.thumb.jpg.19b5cf6a27992af0794b93affce2747d.jpg

I was toasty, even though the wind was blowing.

I tried these anti fogging wipes tonight. Highly recommend. Any moisture that collected inside my helmet never fogged up. You apply on both sides of your shield then buff when it’s dry. Good for eight hours. They come in individually packed wipes, I used one and stuck it in a ziplock bag. I bet it’s good for many uses. I paid $4.00 for a pack of ten.

You can get a spray at most MC shops or on AMZN. dozens of applications.

Just make sure the anti-fog solution is safe for all lenses.

I found my Seirus snowboarding gloves. They are in good shape, for some reason I thought they had fallen apart. They have wrist protection on both the front and back. A velcro cinch tie to keep the drafts.
