AceFace Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Forget about the Ninebot app - what you need is a head up display !! https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/into-sports/cycling/varia-vision-in-sight-display/prod530536.html http://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/videos/cycling-tech/garmin-varia-vision Why look down at your smart phone, when you can get your speed and gps navigation in line of sight? I need one sooooo badly !
ToniG123 Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Cool, but not so useful. It can't project remaining battery/mileage, watt output or temperature, for example. For me remaining battery is the main reason I keep looking at my smartphone. it would be great if it could project the smartphone screen.
Cranium Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 It is a waste of money for the price in my opinion. And I'm a big Garmin fan/device owner. I own a Garmin Edge 1000, Garmin Edge 800, 2 Garmin Virb Cameras, Garmin Fenix 3, Garmin Varia Rearview Radar, Garmin footpod, Garmin Tempe, and multiple heart rate monitor straps. So I am not talking as a Garmin hater. This device is basically a wireless display. The majority of the processing is done on the bike computer. They really need to cut the price down to about $199 to make it enticing to me. While they did undercut the Recon Jet price and the Varia Vision looks better, the Recon Jet flat out kicks its ass in features! The Garmin Varia Vision is useless unless you pair it with a supported Garmin Edge computer or a Varia Rear Radar because it has no functionality built in! Now if you really want to see some tech porn that puts both the Garmin and Recon Jet to shame, check out the [not yet released] everysight glasses. EDIT: Just noticed that the Recon Jet has a $100 off discount right now so it is the same price as the Garmin Varia Vision making it a much better value.

That looks really cool, I was hoping someone would come up with a fighter jet-style projected HUD. Probably the video is using pre-rendered animations to show how it should look like with the glasses, but if they really got that working, I might actually have to get those And then figure out a way to send wheel telemetry to them. EDIT: Still, having to wear actual glasses, I'd prefer one that projects it into the helmet visor. Using two glasses might be difficult
