Popular Post Denny Paul Posted September 2, 2021 Popular Post Share Posted September 2, 2021 Sounds more like a lateral move than an upgrade to me. if you’re itching for a bigger wheel, I’d go another step up. Something like a ks 16x, gotway nikola+, Ks18xl, gotway msp or rs. You’ll get a bigger battery, more speed, more stability, less pedal dip if you chose any of those wheels But get a 16s and you’re trading a little top speed and torque for a more commuter/convenience oriented wheel. It has amenities sure, a bit more stable, but it’s still pros vs cons situation, whereas the other wheels I listed seem more like true upgrades. 7 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

If you have the mcm5 with 84V and 800Wh then I'd say it is overall better than the KS16. Even if you find the KS16 slightly better (or you have a lower-specced mcm5), changing wheels for a marginal upgrade is not worth it (unless you get the wheel for free or some other very special case). You will have to readjust your driving style, discover the quirks of the new wheel and learn to trust it. And by that time you will want to upgrade again. So unless there is a particular problem with your mcm5 or your use case, I would keep it. Minor things and inconveniences can be fixed (changing pedals, adding spikes; adding lights, adding/changing pads). One unique inconvenience of older mcm5 is having a handle opening only on one side of the shell. This can also be fixed. 4 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
