RagingGrandpa
Quote While announcing a summer campaign to get illegal, noisy dirt bikes and ATVs off the streets, police officials in Washington Heights on Thursday also displayed a pile of metal debris that was once a seized illegal motorcycle in the city.https://www.amny.com/news/scrapped-nypd-says-they-will-crush-illegal-bikes-and-atvs-this-summer-in-street-safety-campaign/ What does this have to do with electric devices? (Did you actually read the article?)

I guess that since eucs are illegal on the streets of NYC, it kind of applies. A lot of those bike/atv do have batteries in them at least. Isnt it funny how the tone of the article is blaming the bikes themselves. Hence the "destroy" cuz you know if someone buys it, it could get loose and terrorize the hood on its own. Failed logic, you stop the criminal NOT destroy the device that can be legally repurchased anyhow. Dirtbikes arent illegal to use properly, its just these kids in adult bodies and group mentailities that are the problem. Its hard to overlook a small nuisance when it multiplies into a gang of them... Edited August 27, 2021 by ShanesPlanet
Paul A
NYPD is cracking down on dangers to public safety, think that is the connection. "Chief of Department Rodney Harrison joined fellow police officials in the parking lot of the 33rd precinct at 2207 Amsterdam Avenue to tell the city they are taking safety seriously.... The main issue with these vehicles is that they are not just a nuisance, but they are dangerous, Harrison explained. He said that many operators not only ignore traffic signals, but block traffic and drive on the sidewalk, as well as race down the city streets..... Chief of Transportation Kim Y. Royster......She also added that many of these operators are unlicensed, unregistered and not wearing protective gear..... “Traffic safety is public safety,” Royster said." RockyTop
I have been watching this for a while. It is not just NY city. The dirt bikes and ATVs swarm in gangs. They mug and harass people. It is extremely difficult to catch a gang of dirt bikes in a city. Most of the bikes are stolen however with gang and drug money they might actually buy them now. This is not a poor guy delivering a pizza.

Yup, seen too many of these in my area. Riders acting like they have a down-payment on the town, acting like it's their circus. These clowns pop-wheelies and fumigate outdoor dinners unchecked..... Tho, have to say that, with the recent NYPD crackdown, things have calmed down. 5 hours ago, div said: I'd rather they got sold second hand somewhere.. what an environmental waste. I agree but reckon they'd avoid reselling it back and cycle the nuisance. There's no atv/dirt bike listings on their auction site - https://www.propertyroom.com/c/vehicles

Last I checked, the price of lead meant that its not hard at all to find a home for discarded batteries of that type.
