Popular Post xiiijojjo
So i was fully geared up with helmet, wrist, elbow and knee/shin protection and had the trolley handle out on my RS as i had just walked a few meters and arrived at the top of a flight of stairs that i needed to decent. The stairs had about 25 steps, all of them made of this smooth tile. No issue i just stepped down from the EUC, did not retract the trolley handle, unmounted and grabbed the carrying handle to shut the motor off and carry it down the stairs. The very first step i take down the stairs is apparently onto a wet piece of tile. Me not expecting this as there has been no rain, is not so careful about the decent, as in dry conditions, slipping is more or less impossible there... But it's wet and late so impossible to see. So i slip like a cartoon character on a banana peel, and hit the back of my helmet really hard into one of the steps and proceed to slide down the stairs on my back, knocking the back of my helmet on every other step or so along with my elbows on more or less every step. Thank god i had gear on, especially the helmet. My lower back is pretty beat up and a little swollen but no damage to the spine or anything mayor. I stood up and rode home with a bent trolley handle that no longer retracts(anyone got an aliexpress link for a replacement?)... The back of my helmet has a few dents and scratches too. I'm just glad that my skull doesn't. Makes me think.. Most crashes has the euc rider falling forwards, in which case my equipment is sufficient, but in the case of a high speed crash on my back i'm not so sure... I should look into back/stomach armor of some kind. I mean it's technically not a crash, but an EUC related accident that would probably not have happened if i didn't carry its weight when stepping onto the wet tile. The Fat Unicyclist
Ouch... You may have just taken the title for the "Slowest EUC Crash" in history! Obviously, I'm glad you were geared up and not (significantly) hurt. I hadn't really thought about non-riding EUC injuries before, but particularly as they get heavier, I can see how walking/lifting/carrying one adds a huge potential for some sort of "incident"...

I fell off the can once and knocked myself out on the door frame... I wear a helmet now, just in case! Popular Post KiwiMark
It's a good idea to wear a helmet when using a computer, because they crash a lot. On my EUC I've had a fast crash where I landed on my back (panicked and leaned back too hard), but I do wear a back protector - a Boblbee backpack. I was fine, glad I was wearing all my gear.

I hear they can be a little difficult at times. Fwiw, I found that back protection in my jacket, bothers me less than ANY of my other padding. Sometimes a bit warm, but it doesnt get in the way in compare to all the rest. I recently downgraded from the big d30 pad to a slimmer d30 pad for summer in my aerostich. I still am not sure a back slam is going to be that likely, but who knows? If ima bother wearing any gear, the back protector is comfy (tho heavy) and seems it could take a much better beating than my spine. https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/olympia-back-protector?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIhqXrleye8gIV0z6tBh2wgwX2EAQYBCABEgI3cvD_BwE&sku_id=1312141 I have used this on numerous jackets with back pockets. It fits my mesh olympia of course, perfectly. Its not true d30, but same properties and has lasted me many years (probably cuz i hardly wear gear). This is more or less what it looked like. How it is able to stay that smooth outside in the weather is a mystery though.

How about that perennial hazard of stepping barefoot on the untidied-away upturned charging plug? Particularly apt/painful in the case of UK residents, lolno!
