Popular Post OldFartRides
Wow ! I really like this wheel. That’s probably the best farm/ trail wheel for the money IMHO. I cruised around my friends farm through various terrains including a steep rocky road up the ridge. Then I took it out to my favorite mtb trails and did 4 1/2 miles. It’s light, nimble, torquey and has a low c.o.g. Being lower to the ground than the s18 makes it much less scary, and it's easier to ride slow. The only things I didn’t like are the fan being kinda loud. I got a fair number of pedal clips on rocks from width I think. And it’s seems quirky about getting back to balancing after being laid over. There’s some beeps, and if it doesn’t balance, I had to lay it back over again. Then it would balance. All in all, seems like a good runner. Edit: s18 has about two more inches of pedal clearance. Lot less contact w/rocks. Also like that big fat tire. Dont think I’ll be getting rid of the s18 in favor of the mcm5, but it’s a fun wheel. Edit 2 : Re-rode same trails I did on the mcm5 this afternoon on the s18. I definitely prefer the s18. Big fat tire, suspension. Heavier, but still pretty nimble. Edited August 1, 2021 by OldFartRides Adding to it.
RetroThruster
I love mine too, I never really thought of it as a true off road wheel but it is the wheel I grab most to ride around the yard with. It's funny, I've been tinkering with the idea of trying the S18 for yard duties and to use on the trails beside my house, my only slight concern is my weight at 215lbs.
