KS18XL question

No need to update firmware on e-wheels newly sold 18XL wheels. As Tawpie mentions, nothing has changed or needed to be changed in a while. Get it, charge it, tire pressure it and ride it. Excellent choice of wheel! These KS18XL is almost perfect as is nowadays. Perhaps get a rollNZ cover and no other farkles needed. Avoid the KS app like the pague, EUCW ftw!

that was one of the cool things as it comes free with a rollNZ cover with the current deal on ewheels which I got so that will be nice for my first wheel.

KS18XL is incredibly reliable.

Over 13500km and no problems at all.

Have only had to change a tube that had a small leak.

Still have original tyre on.

EUC world keeps disconnecting while riding, only really need it when charging to check battery level.

Mine has waek BT as well. HAve you tried moving the little antenna vertical and stretching it a little? Dont know if it helps much, but mine holds connection a little better now. Defintely NOT a safety issue, as the beeps and tiltback are gloriously usefull anyhow.

I know that they changed the rang requirement to unlock full speed up to 30 from 25mph to 125 miles down from 200 which is cool but I also heard that there was one more restriction when you first get it  that has a very small range requirement that keeps you even slower, but don't know if thats true or if it is what the distance required and speed it keeps you at is?

I honestly have no idea. It has changed so many times since I got my wheel and mines been 'unlocked' for so long, I just dont pay it any mind. I'm pretty sure it had a slower speed for max for just a handfull of miles, but I couldnt honestly tell you how many or what speed. Apologies, I havent had a zero miles 18L/XL for nearly two years. Unlocking speed doenst require a firmware update btw. Iirc, it just magically lets you set the speed higher via an app at one point. I use eucw, but I'd imagine DB is the same. If you set it higher than its limit allows, it simply ignores the request.

For all King Song wheels, "out of the box" you are limited to 20km/h (12.4mph) for the first ~10km (6 miles)...
