Segway mini pro wheel sound problem

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I recently got the Segway Ninebot Minipro. But have encountered the following problem; a weird and irritating sound coming out from the left wheel whenever it rotates. See short video below.

Any idea what seems to be the problem?

For yr info, i have checked that nothing (whether small stone, valve stem etc) that stood between the wheel and fender that made this sound.

So is this a bearing problem?

On the other hand, the seller said that this sound is a "normal" sound and so no need to worry.

Do you encounter such sound when riding minipro?

Appreciate your input.

Thank you.

Hi Putra, that sounds like what my Minipro sounds like too now! Did you find out what it is caused by? I think it could be due to underinflation of the tyre causing it to rub against something. When I can manage to pump it to over 40PSI, I notice that the noise subsides temporarily but it will return. Others have attributed it to a worn bearing. How long have you had your Minipro?

@GregY2002

Indeed, this noise comes from the hub cover, rubbing against the tire, which must either be punctured or deflated. the pressure must be at 45 PSI or 3.1 bar, if you have an air leak problem, you must add sealant or liquid silicone (you must unscrew the valve nozzle to introduce the liquid), it will allow it to dry to make the tires waterproof by gluing them to the rims.
However there may be a puncture, so you have the option of using patches (you have to look in a bike store for patches for tubules)

Don't forget: the original tires are worn out after 1000km, their rubber is very thin.
The bearings are of good quality and are not the cause in this case.

to be installed from the inside of the tire.
To remove a Mini tire, use four hose clamps after deflating the tire, petroleum jelly to lubricate the tire and the rim, and prepare the new tire for installation by tightening it with four plastic hose clamps arranged in cross, and the internal contours (rod) lubricated.

Best regards

Joris
