axle nuts on the sherman

I am planning to change nuts to Nordlock as the normal nuts got loose after only 150 km in the forest

and yes I am always using LOCTITE blue

but do anyone know the size of the axle nuts and the threading for me to order the Nordlock nuts

Nordlock:

I believe the Sherman axle nuts are A2 70 Hex Nut DIN 934, with a 16-2.0mm thread and 24mm across the flats.

The Sherman is a HS street wheel :P

LOCTITE blue

Red is better for these large coarse threads

Nordlock washers (including the captive-washer nuts) aren't designed for the (crappy) axle lock-wedge design that Gotway and Veteran use...

Instead, loosening can be avoided from proper installation torque, including rapping of the wedges until final torque is consistently held.
(101 ft-lb was the Gotway torque spec.)

So I have the newest sherman

brand new and it feels like loose axle nuts

easy job…

but there’s a cover over them now

so what the easy way to tighten them

im not disassembling the whole wheel

anyway there’s a click when I go forwards and reverse

Same as the V3 Monster

Also not the only Sherman I’ve ridden that’s the same

You have to remove the wheel. Lookup Sherman tire change on YouTube. You have to remove 3 wires and unplug the sensor. Then pull the wheel out the bottom.

And I can’t dremel that piece off to get access?

I’ve heard earlier Sherman’s didn’t have a cover over the nut

seems like a poor design decision as I feel I’m going to need to tighten the axle ever so often

my monster I used to pop the side covers off and job was done in 5min

I guess you could but I wouldn’t. That location is the most likely place for a crack to start. ........ So if you do cut a portion out make sure the hole is nice and smooth. No corners, no jagged edges. Cracks start in corners and rough cut areas.
Pulling the motor only take about 1/2 hour. When you pull the motor out remember to pull the two sides apart just a little and it comes out very easily.

What size socket do I need to grind a slot into for axle nut/ wires (when the time comes)? Torque stock nut to 100lbs? Thanks in advance

24mm nut, but if you can get a podger wrench it will already have the hole through it for you to feed the wires through and not require a grinder to cut up the socket.
