Ninebot E+ Oscillations

It is my third day with the Ninebot E+ bougth after much reading of this forum which has been very helpful (thanks).

First and second day where just practice and practice, being able to start and stop, and just maintaining equilibrium.

Today things have been better but I had problem in descents (I use a parking lot with some gradient ) in that I feel like I go too back. Was wondering what I was doing incorrectly, Also had problems climbing the ramps.

Finally I read a post which recomended to look at the speed settings.

After disconnecting speed limitation I am beginning to go straight, climb the ramps and being able to do much much more... and some falls :( but when speed increases I have a small oscillation of the wheel. It is not the equilibrium type but a small oscillation right and left. I am able to feel it and also to see it. Doesn't afect direction or riding but is a little scaring.

I am wondering if it it just inexperience, the wheel with too low a pressure, sensitivity level set to 6 or some other type of problem.

I had the same issue when I was learning to ride my Rock wheel GR16 .  I sold my ECU after about a couple of months owning it. I was still a beginner but not a total beginner though. I could turn left right ( not totally comfortably)  but I felt as if given a little more practise could move into the novice mode if you see what I mean.  Anyway, the wobbling you speak of felt quite severe and scared me into wanting to sell my scoot before I ended up face planting.  As I begun to get faster it came in more strongly.  cruising at waking pace gave no wobbles.  Possibly one thing I felt could have started it was when my legs got tired, which was very quickly as I felt tense as I begun to tire which would make my ride more twitchy. A thing to note is that my Rock wheel only had 1 riding mode which was fixed and could not be adjusted in any software setting via an app. This setting was classed as super madden mode.... very hard setting for a beginner like me.  See if you could alter your ride mode into a softer more forgiving mode to help with the ride.  Also try to relax more if possible as this will help.

Thanks, riding mode was 5/6, seems very soft between 1 hard and 10 soft. I thing your idea of tiring legs is quite correct, will look at it tomorow

Paco, when I started learning my Ninebot would oscillate quickly as soon as I picked up a bit of speed. As soon as I had a few more hours of learning that went away.

I have seen it again with some friends who started learning, so I would believe it has to do with your level of expertise. You'll probably notice it gone with a bit more practice.

Enjoy it and keep riding !

Paco, Ive owned my 9BO e+ for 2 mths now and before i bought it had never ever seen or heared of them before. Afte ra few weeks of dinged up ankles and scrapes, Im at a point now where I can get on it and ride without worrying about coming off it. I only ride at about 10kmh, not a speed freak, and dont want to faceplant.

John F is right in what he said about tension in the legs, its absolutely imperative that you remain "soft and loose" in the legs, as this will help you go over speed bumps and uneven ground with ease, it also lets you relax on the wheel which will make turning easier too. When I tighten up in the legs I definitely feel like I loose a bit of control, so "stay soft".

As far as the wobbling wheel goes, I too have felt that from time to time, it is most worrying when speed starts getting up there, I generally find that if it starts doing that I just need to be aware of it and back off the speed a little until it levels out.. Im not sure if its an inflation issue on the tyre or another issue, so I might add some air and see if that helps.

anyway, enjoy your ride, they are a great eye catching ride

For new riders, there is a lot of tension and worry, watch a child learning on a bike for the first time, front wheel all over the place.... Unformillar feeling, but you should just slow down and try again, don't continue riding the wobble. I also heard your stance might be too forward on pedals, adjust your stance... One foot forward and one backward equally doesn't hurt either...
