Is it still difficult to go up hills?

  1. 1. Given your years and mileage, are hills easy or hard?

    • Hills are hard- less than 1 year and less than 1000km

As a new rider hills were difficult. I really had to work to get up hills. I even made a video about it. After putting a few hundred miles behind me hills became no more difficult than flat land.

I found going UP hills to be easier than down for the first year or so. The hardest part of uphill for me was/is getting that leverage right to coax the wheel to listen to my skinny ass. Grabbing with ankles on a padless or leaning into the pads on a padded wheel, seems to be how I solve the issue. Fwiw, gathering speed up hill has always been easier on sport bikes for me as well.

I don't fit the poll parameters: < 1 year, > 2000 km, hills are easy (until they're toooooo steep, then they're hard because I'm hiking) When it's steep, downhill is harder than uphill for me but I think that's fear more than anything.

Going up hills is easy with either a light wheel or one with power pads.
Braking is hardest when going down steep downhill. Also i prefer braking (especially downhill) in hard mode but prefer accelerating in soft mode whether i'm uphill or downhill.
