DS Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Hello everyone, Happy to join this forum. I ordered my generic EUC from China and have it already 3 weeks. Learning to ride is kind of challenge, exactly what I was looking for. But the funniest part is the faces of the people, their looks and stares…the car drivers even slow down…and comments like: what is that, ooh that’s what I need, how do you control it, does it have engine...ooh mom look that dude what is he on...and the mom's answer: he is on ...something ...and the best so far...look, look that dude is riding vacuum cleaner I think I’m the first one having and using EUC in my country, let’s see next summer in some park or in resort area, at that time I may encounter someone else. Yesterday learned hard way that riding close to the curb is very dangerous…one small touch of the footrest, EUC turned furiously and I did spectacular faceplant…hopefully only small bruise on my knee. I’m in good physical shape nevertheless entering my 50’s, but here was more of physiological problem of new rider I believe – in a new environment or path or situation, the attention is more divided and is easier to make mistakes, especially ones that you are not aware of. I believe my learning curve would go more smoothly having you guys here in this forum. All the best and Happy New Year
dpong Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Welcome. My favorite comment that people ask me is: Did you make that?
DS Posted December 28, 2015 Author Posted December 28, 2015 Yeah, I have that comment also But these gadgets are really new. I've been for three months in the spring of 2014 in Monterey, CA, visited San Francisco as well as Washington DC and at that time never have seen EU, not even the old Segway.
diggory 456 Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 I was waiting at a train station with my Lhotz on the bench next to me (Wheel clearly visible) and the guy next to me was like - 'whoa....is that like some kinda stereo system?!" ?
DS Posted December 28, 2015 Author Posted December 28, 2015 ...and another one, when I approached to family with kids who apparently had followed my moves Dad to his kid: You see, it has tire and he is not in the air...I was like to say with the appropriate hand gesture: "May the force be with you"
SuperSport Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Congratulations! This really is a fantastic sport for us older guys that like challenges.

I read somewhere that with aging the body balance functions diminish. I still don't feel anything wrong but in the moment I saw EUC video in YouTube, I knew what to do IOT challenge my balance abilities Contrary to my usual way of doing thorough research and deep considerations...this time just in a couple of days I got an order. And I don't think this gonna be the last one...BTW I like your idea of current and backup wheel
Colestien Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 As I like to say, and will until it catches on. Welcome to the Brotherhood of the Wheel.
Phil Wright Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 Welcome D, Ive only been riding a couple of momths and every time I take it out in Melbourne,Australia I have someone stop and ask about it. All of them cant quite understand how one can look so relaxed moving on a single wheel, oppsed to the 2 wheeled boards. I tell them its a Gyrowheel and took a month to learn on, as if I told them it was a Ninebot One E+ I would just get a blank stare back.....its fun, new and has the wow factor.. love riding mine
Oily Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 Welcome to the fold ! I started riding about 6 weeks ago now, but one of the things I find funny about riding in London is NO-ONE stops or asks questions ! You gets the kids saying "Wow mum/dad look at that", and I've had one "Very cool" comment from a surfer type, but other than that, everyone stays very tight lipped & British & says NOTHING ! Keep on practicing, it only gets easier ! Olly (who broke 100 miles on my EUC today)

Well, so far I managed to cross around all main parks in Sofia as well as the pedestrian busy downtown boulevard. Most of the people here as typical eastern Europeans they don't dare to start conversation with someone unfamiliar just like that. I've noticed that generally the men are more intuitively interested and stare attentively in my humble (but for now unique here) EU. Many others actually cannot realize at all what are they actually seeing. It's like a blink mind shutdown...when you see something that in your mind could not exist, then nevertheless of eyes input, the mind rejects it. Here is the proof, several cases of people in my neighborhood who KNOW me and failed to recognize me when I passed them riding the lovely EU Of course, there are always exceptions, like I was stopped by a nobleman in his 70's surrounded by relatives of various ages saying: "Please young-man, could you stop to explain to us the lames, WHAT IS THIS? " Cheers
Tyred Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Welcome and enjoy your rides! Here in Belgium most older people look with a astonished and surprised look, children are full of awe and younger people ask questions, are interested and start laughing when I pass by, pointing at me, wanting the other to look before I go into hyperspeed or something.
diggory 456 Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 My favourite 'reactions' BY FAR are when children on their hoverboards in the park with their parents see me. They stop in their tracks and shout/say "wow!' or 'oh my god look at THAT ONE!' but their parents always look annoyed/bemused/silent because I know they're thinking: "Fuck, I just bought them these hoverboards and now they want that!"
Colestien Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 @Tyred I understand that you are saying for sure. I'm a big guy. I see them watching and hear the wows, but I know they are not believing, they are waiting for the punch line or they are waiting for me to fall, so they can think......"That's what I thought, this isn't for real"
DS Posted January 17, 2016 Author Posted January 17, 2016 Yeah, most of the kids want it "right now" and parents don't know what to say. The most frequent question is "What's the highest speed?" on which usually I answer "As much as you can run", but twice some kids challenged me for a race And the most inadequate question: "Can you burnout with this?" 1 hour ago, Tyred said: Welcome and enjoy your rides! Thank you Now is snowing here and I practice jiggles and 1 square meter turns indoors...there is always room for mastering some skills.
edwin_rm Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 I know the feeling. Everytime I go out riding, pedestrians are in utter shock and total disbelief about what they are witnessing. Everytime I ride, I witness people go into total "freaking out mode". What makes people scream: "HOLY SHIT!!! WHAT THE FUCK IS THAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTT!!!! OH MY GGOOOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!" the most is when I perform: sudden accelerations, sudden stops, steep uphill or downhill riding, tight cornering, and off-roading. Any of those actions will make spectators come near heart attack.

You get upgraded from an alien to a visitor from the future, and ocasionally a minor kind of a god
DS Posted January 18, 2016 Author Posted January 18, 2016 When asked how do I control it, sometimes I joke...Well there is a new technology to connect the mind with the computer inside the unit, so it accelerates, slows down and turns in the moment when I think in some special way....and people scratching their heads, kind of believe me, because anyway since such a never known thing exists then mind control technology also exists But I choose appropriate audience for that kind of jokes
ToniG123 Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Ha ha, I've been asked too if I control it with my mind.
esaj Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Many people have thought that the bike bell around my finger is a remote control for the wheel.
DS Posted January 18, 2016 Author Posted January 18, 2016 Just now, esaj said: Many people have thought that the bike bell around my finger is a remote control for the wheel. He, he, yeah, I've noticed that many people stare at my hands and fingers obviously looking for remote control
Jag_Rip Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 The best reactions I usually got when riding summertime, one hand in my pockets and the other holding a Coffee or a can of soda.. Utter disbelief is the most fitting description I had people even stop their soccertraining when I glided by..
