Popular Post Paulo Mesquita Posted March 30, 2021 Popular Post Posted March 30, 2021 You only need two ingredients: good adrenaline and two beautiful young ladies close by. Short story. I'm riding for the 1st time after a week in the toilet, hospital and bed due to a intestinal bug. My legs are weak due to dehydration and the muscle fatigue, after riding about 15kms, and I'm going down the front road of the (still closed) Tasis International School. Down the road I see two beautiful young ladies. But there's a problem: they're walking three huge dos. I love dogs and have always one in the family. But dogs don't generally love EUC riders. So I signal to the ladies, while going down the road, showing that I'm going left and that they should go right with their doggies. And they do. Now comes the evil agent of misfortune: a black and yellow traffic blocking pillar (photos below) decides to attack me when I'm passing between it and its siblings...are you following, so far?...OK, it didn't attack me, I admit. I was jus too tired and wasn't precise when passing through and let the left pedal hit the pillar. NOW ENTERS INGREDIENT #1: adrenaline! It hit hard. I jumped off the falling wheel and (as many of you have experienced)...started running forward trying not to lose balance and fall flat on my face. My brain accelerates and I think fast: "There is a very high sidewalk right in front of me! I'm going to fall flat on my face like Will E Coyote..." NOW ENTERS INGREDIENT #2: the two beautiful young ladies are looking at me. So I think fast: " I'm almost falling forward...they are watching...got to do a judo roll (never practiced it in my life) so I don't "lose face" (double meaning intended). ...and I did a perfect judo roll on the left shoulder and over the sidewalk and stood up....FACING THE LADIES!!! It couldn't have been more perfect!!!...I felt like Tom Cruise, man!!! So guys, if you happen to feel that you're gonna fall of your beloved EUC, just make sure you choose to do it with beautiful ladies close by. It works miracles. @ShanesPlanet, @Scottie888and @Unventor, @Tawpie, @mrelwood you gotta try it and see how it goes. 14 Quote
5Cauac Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 (edited) That is awesome! Funny how the brain can process all those things in a split second. Bravo! Reminds me of the time I experienced a wobble, hop off only to lose my balance and had no choice but to do a side roll. I stood up coming out of the roll and started running after my wheel as it managed to stay upright and started to wonder away. I did end up catching up to it. Edited March 30, 2021 by 5Cauac 3 Quote
mrelwood Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 🤣 What a story! What I mostly take out from it is that when I crashed a few years ago, I can finally get relief and be sure that no ladies saw my fall. If they had, my clumsy newborn Bambi legged attempts to stay afoot followed by a roll to the gutter would surely have been replaced by something as heroic as what @Paulo Mesquita experienced! 1 Quote
Unventor Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 We all have stories to share. And the EUC takes us down new roads of exploration so many times. So did those ladies make good coffee? I expect you got their contact details since you managed to pull off your stunt 😉 My story has more to do riding in hospital at 4am after I had a crash the even before at 6pm and been in the E&A all evening trying to get my shoulder/arm fixed up. The nurse demanded me to show I had control if the wheel in the E&A halls before she let me ride my 800m home. But since I have regular treatments I have been riding 10+ times inside hospital at walking speed most of the times on staff demand. But it was a few days since I last did this due to covid-19 situation. But new yearly rheumatic checkup comming up next week and drop medicine again tomorrow. 3 Quote

There was a fraction of embarrassment while I was still rolling, but once I jumped up and landed on my feet facing the ladies ...I knew I was off the hook 1 Quote
Scubadragonsan Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 I always thought that Adam ate the apple and fell was only a myth. But I guess it's no myth. Besides the apple, there are other things such as yellow-black pillars that can make one's soul go astray and fall....hahahaPlease be careful driving....protect the area between the legs.....pillars are hard! 1 Quote
