GerryM Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 Anyone know anything about this wheel? It is advertised as having an 800 watt motor and Fosjoas is the 'same' company that makes the Airwheel? Offered for £175.00 inc. delivery. I've been let down buying a pair of the Pinwheel T1F unicycles directly from the TopJoy factory..they spent 3 weeks in UK customs and have been refused so I'm now waiting on a refund..really disappointed as they had 450 watt motors, decent LiPo batteries and an Android app. If I don't buy something soon I will go off the idea altogether :-(( Need to buy two wheels one for me and the wife for less than £500 the pair.
GerryM Posted December 24, 2015 Author Posted December 24, 2015 Sorry..here's the link http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/401045647640?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Not sure why the customs refused them...can only assume they brand everything now as an exploding wheeled device from China. According to the contact in TopJoy, the customs are refusing almost everything from China that contains a battery. I know that the Pinwheel unicycles are no longer available through Ebay or Amazon any more..could be because they use LiPo rather that the normal Lithium batteries?? The Fosjoas looks pretty good on specs (if you can believe them) but not a very catchy name!! Any advice welcome as after waiting four weeks for my pinwheels I'm cheesed off!!!

At 18km/h max speed, this EUC has only a 350w motor. This EUC has very similar characteristics with generic X3 clones. If you intend to buy it, it is advisable to perform the BMS shunt to minimize unexpected face plants.
GerryM Posted December 24, 2015 Author Posted December 24, 2015 Where do they get the 800 watts from?? Can any specs be trusted??

The battery isn't that big, not really much different to prismatic cells in recent apple laptops which come from china. I would have complained to customs, sounds like laziness or incompetence on their part. Generally if they claim a generic 14 inch euc is over 500w they're making it up. Kingsong and the others with high powered 14inch models have wider motors and their own plastic cases so they're easy to spot. As far as I can tell there's only really two hub motors made in china, a 9 inch diameter one, when constructed for bicycle wheels it's about 300-500w depending on the quality of the materials. A less common 11 inch model, I think solowheel and a few 16" models use this one, it has different pole counts so it wont work with most generic EUC controllers. Seems to do 1000w-2000w. Even scooters seem to use the 9" model they just make it wider, I assume the kingsong motor is probably a scooter motor stator in a custom housing or something similar.
GerryM Posted December 24, 2015 Author Posted December 24, 2015 Thanks for the info...when you say I could complain to customs, how does this work? My shipment was due through DPD but all I got, every day from the 1st December and still today, was we have not received your parcel and will let you know when we do. I tried to contact DPD directly without success. Now the girl from TopJoy has said they will refund me...as far as I know the Pinwheels are still in the UK somewhere...I would still like to have them seeing as I have bought and paid for them .........and the shipping!! Too late now of course as there will be no chance until Tuesday or Wednesday to contact anybody............. On that note...Merry Christmas to everyone on the forum...I hope I can become an 'active' member in 2016!!!

They change them a little in terms of poles and inner diameter of the stator, but they all seem to conform to the same outer diameter and layout. There's no axial flux versions or anything with significant changes. You basically get 9" diameter stator that is between 24 and 50mm thick which varies between 350w-3000w And an 11" version 24-50mm thickness with around 2000-8000w. Usually always 50mm scooter motors, seems to be very rare in EUC, it must need custom hub parts and firmware to work in a EUC I think.
Gimlet Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 My M18 hub is 300mm diameter, the IPS hubs are 280mm, the mcmv2s+ and KingSong 800w (not pictured) are 220mm but the stator stacks are very different in width and my M10 hubs 120mm diameter.
lizardmech Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 Do you have any pics of the IPS motor internals? I have been trying to work out which is the cheapest 16" with the larger stator diameter. Most of the generics seem to just be the smaller 220mm stator in a 16" hub.
Gimlet Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 I have opened the IPS hub but didn't take a picture of it. The magnets were similar in thickness to other eucs and the stator filled the available space so not a 220mm stator in a large hub.
