Yeshwanth Akurathi Posted March 20, 2021 Posted March 20, 2021 (edited) Hello all, I have a KS 14M. But it has got some problem with controller and even the single battery is not recharging to the full capacity. So I am planning to upgrade my wheel with a new 14d controller and 2 battery packs of 210wh. I live in India, these will be bough by my brother in USA from ewheels and are being shipped to me. I have seen the dismantling videos on YouTube. I want to confirm about the tools that I need to buy to do this on my own. I am going to buy this tool box https://www.amazon.com/Rotatable-Screwdriver-Disassemble-Electronics-Maintenance/dp/B019ZRQU5C for this. Will I be needing to buy any other tools to do this? Also when I receive both the battery packs, I am supposed to attach first one, charge it to full and then replace it with second to charge it to full and then finally add them both together right? Is this the right way of attaching both the battery packs? Thanks in advance!! Edited March 20, 2021 by Yeshwanth Akurathi 1 Quote

Is this the right way of attaching both the battery packs? Sounds good! Just double check that both packs report the same voltage once fully charged! Btw: I assume chances are high, that both batteries already have the same voltage - so you coild check this with a voltmeter and just assemble the wheel if this is true. 1 Quote

Can I use darkness bot app to check the voltages once fully charged? Or is there a way to check the voltage using a multimeter? Quote

Yes - like every other app that shows the reported voltage. (Ignore charge % - you have to check the battery voltage) Just now, Yeshwanth Akurathi said: Or is there a way to check the voltage using a multimeter? Yes. You can just measure the voltage at the battery output. But charging both batteries separately has the advantage that you have by this checked that they are wirking! 1 Quote
Fleetwood Posted October 11, 2021 Posted October 11, 2021 So, did it work changing the controller and adding batteries? Quote
Yeshwanth Akurathi Posted October 11, 2021 Author Posted October 11, 2021 Yes! it did! With about 100kgs of body weight I am able to cruise around 30 kmph. I think I out grew this wheel long back. But the market for EUCs in India is close to zero so there is no option to resell this or even to buy a new wheel. So going to stick with this may be for a year till my brother comes from USA. Will probably get one of the extreme EUCs and hopefully they dont break Quote
lubokkanev Posted December 11, 2021 Posted December 11, 2021 I'm planning to add a second battery to my MCM5 480wh. Any dangers? Quote
T-Ray Posted April 11, 2023 Posted April 11, 2023 I have a KS 14m and i feel that the top speed of 20kph is too slow for me. If i just add another additional battery pack, will the unit automatically adjust its settings? No need for firmware tweaking/adjustment? Quote

I haven't owned a Kingsong but I'm 99% sure you need a different controller and possibly motor. The OP however seems to be using the original M motor at 30km/h. The controller most probably can't tell if your battery capacity is 210 or 420. It's up to you to back up the new power draw requirements with an adequate battery pack. Quote
