My review about me and my Ninebot P

Hello all,

On Wednesday I finally got the  Holly Grail of  Ninebots so this review is about me and my Ninebots past and present and I'm not.   comparing it to any other wheels, or if the specs isn't what it could have been.

Firstly i want to say a big thank you to Ian Sampson from www.speedyfeet.uk who supplied me with the P version, almost to the day he said it would arrive. Also helping me out with my ring tonight, but thats another story.

So now to a review, well i owned an Ninebot E since April, after first making a serious mistake falling for the hard sell, over advertised Airwheel product, an X8 was my first buy, and on which i learnt the skills required to tame a one wheeled wonder.

Anyway after 6 months on the X8 i needed the Ninebot beauty sitting firmly between my legs, so i bought the E on looks alone about a week before the E+ arrived on the scene. Yes a week later the much loved E+ was beginning its rise to the top as the must have EUC, and i was gutted i never researched enough, in fact at all.

So now you have the background, all my comparisons are base on the difference between the E and the P.

I can honestly say the black is dam sexy, more like i highly gloss waxed black car look and i wasn't sure id like it, so i bought new white panels to swap out, but for now, I'm keeping with the little black number.

The pedals or plates have much more grip, its so noticeable, but to look at you'd never think theres much difference, but your feet seem as if glue is being used, but this is only in the dry of today, i cannot comment on wet or mud yet, after all theres only one person we all know who's happy to take their new device and subject it to the kind of treatment. For now mine stays clean.

So we get to the important bit i guess, well i don't feel its any heavier to carry..........................

Sorry, the important bit, how it really feels to ride, well, its a lot faster than the E thats for sure, i guess everyone who's upgraded to the E+ from the E, knows what I'm feeling right now, truly another level, and I'm not a light guy at just under 100KG and this is where i really feel Ninebot have got it spot on. I believe its almost perfect, yes some of you think they've not gone far enough in terms of speed, distance etc, but really how many of you really want to be doing over 20 MPH for 40 miles, well hands up if you do, not many. What Ninebot have delivered is a wheel, which goes fast, can climb hills, travel a good distance and kept the modern classic look we all love.
It is after all still a Ninebot but with a more satisfying purring sound when in motion but handles like the E I've loved for many months.

So to sum up my first impressions, i now feel like my Ninebot is much more safer for me to ride at 12MPH, which i find is my comfort level, knowing that i have the extra power to boot. Where as when i rode my E at this speed i was always right on that jagged edge of knowing at any time a face plant was possible.

Is it worth those extra bucks, for me yes as its does everything i would ever need, but for those of you expecting a turbo charged space ship performance then i feel your going to be looking elsewhere for those type of thrills.

Good review.  Thanks.  I was ready to make my first EU purchase and get the ninebot one E+, but then I heard that the P was supposed to come out soon.  I am still waiting for it to come out in the U.S.

Question though, did you try to max it out to see if it would go the advertised 15-17 mph?

I've been flat out in it for about 20 seconds, and it easily got to 17 MPH which is 4mph quicker than my version E. Doesn't sound a lot but believe me it feels very fast.

Difference now is at 13mph on my P I feel safe because I'm not maxing out my  Ninebot.

If you've never had an EUC before I wouldn't  recommend the P as I think the E+ would be more than enough. But if you have deep pockets then go for it. Either way I love both my Ninebots.

Thanks for the info.

I tend to grow out of things quickly so I will save up for the P.  I'm sure I wont be wanting to go 17 mph anytime soon, but in the long run I would like to have the option.  If i grow out of the E+ in a year and want to upgrade to the P, then I will have basically wasted 800 bucks.  The long run cheaper option is to buy the P, and take it slow at first IMO.

@Douglas Ingram Have you noticed anything in the overheating department with your new P?   I am glad you are so happy with it.  I am amazed at how fast some of the people here ride.  I once got a reading of 15mph out of my E+ and it was hard to make myself go fast enough to get that reading.  At around 12mph my (perhaps) 'better judgement' kicks in.  My hat is off to you fast guys.

Not noticed it getting hot at all, there is a slight increase over my E, but then I'm pushing it a lot harder on acceleration etc.

And im totally with you in the speed department, I'm not into go really fast and I'm happiest at 12/13 mph, but 17moh is crazy fast but feels scary but exciting too.

Since the first few weeks, I did constantly ride the Firewheel at average of 12.5-15mph (20-24km/h) and max speed of 16.5-19mph (27-31km/h) over around 12.5-15.5 mile (20-25 kilometers) routes. I think it's up to what you get accustomed to, but I felt safe and in control at those speeds and not going "too slowly" (although the laws that are to come to effect limit the speed to 25km/h). Had I had "open road" all the time, my averages would probably be higher, as I slowed down everytime there were other people (walking or cycling) on the road.

EDIT: It's starting to look like my next wheel will be 16" or 18" King Song, but I'll likely to try to get one ordered without batteries, so I can use my 4 * 192Wh custom packs on it, they cost a pretty penny, and I'd like them not to go to waste ;)

For me I find 12-13 is my comfort zone, but now I'm not getting any beeps when I hit lumps and bumps along the way.

Goid luck with your next EUC purchase, I hope it makes you as happy as my P does me.
