Recommended Posts

There is a new Firmware listed in the iPhone App, but it's not downloadable yet.  It says it was supposed to arrive yesterday, but I cannot get it to install.  Yes, I live on the edge...

Version Info:

Update Date: 20151216

1. fix problems of vehicle power on misoperation

2. Optimize the algorithm of motor, improve the ridding experience.

Anybody get this to install yet?

I'm not updating because I'm happy with 1.3.0 now!

There's a new Version for the Iphone App (3.1.8) also and I wonder if they ever fix the Problem with the Mileage calculator.

My take from the Mileage Calculator is that it allows you to calculate the difference between the remaining miles on the home screen and "Actual Mileage".  I don't think it sets anything, but rather just calculates depending on what info you give it.  It then gives you an answer, and that's it!  Does not change any settings.  Just my two cents on the calculator.

So are we taking bets on when the "1.3.5 Killed my Ninebot" thread is going to start?

I hope I'm not the first to post that.  But as soon as it's available, I'll be updating.

1.3.5 already? What's up Ninebot? You offer upgrades much faster than I take showers. Is there a race for " Who releases more upgrades in a week" title? Just to let you know, you already won that title. Now just put your focus on making SAFE wheels. Please.

Ninebot's business model for providing updates is clearly broken.  I wish their management would step in and fix this unprofessional flaw in their business.

I agree that they should have a little more quality control before release, but I'm happy they are doing something. It gives me the feeling they at least care and are still supporting the device.  Not just releasing new devices and leaving the old ones behind.

On my TG F3, there will NEVER be updates. What it is I'm stuck with, even if they could make it ride smoother or longer, I'll never know.

I like updates because it adds an element of risk vs an unlnown reward lol

Dear Paul & Jacque,

I admit that there is the possibility of it being fun to have an element of risk.  That is an actuality, the anticipation of which can cause a heightened sense of awareness, etc.  The downside is that being ACTUALLY injured is not a lot of fun at all.  I have gone to the emergency room actually injured from riding a wheel, because I was, well...  injured.  This is not a lot of fun.  It hurts, as you might imagine.

I hope that you, and also SuperSport will adjust your expectations regarding 'being hurt' by being the victim of a bad update. (I didn't say that right, I simply wish you would adjust your expectations.)   Having been in the ER because of these wheels of ours, and having taken time to recover from that, it is not something you really want.  Bad on me, if that IS what you really want.

Good luck and enjoy what safety you have.

dpong.

If they are doing more than one update a month on a non-emergency basis, then they are horribly broken as a business process.  IMHO.

Thank you @dpong, believe me, I'm not at all excited about being hurt.  I also wear a helmet EVERY ride and other safety gear.  I am, on the other hand, usually on the edge of what is smart and what is not.  That's WHY I'm riding a Self Balancing Unicycle.  That in and of itself is pretty hazardous.  I've also skydived, raced cars and motorcycles, climbed mountains, repelled hundreds of feet, flown RC Planes, Helicopters, Quads, Drones, and am going to try scuba diving as soon as I go visit my brother in Washington (He's an instructor).  But, during all of these Dangerous activities, I use my head, use the correct gear, listen to other's advice, and make sure my equipment is in good condition.  I'm not into pain in any way, I get enough of that lately from my past activities.

But, I do appreciate your concern, and your comments are very wise.  I will take them into consideration, as I do most comments.  I also will be updating as soon as it's out, but I'll be riding more careful after doing so.

I do modify and create firmware for cell phones, and I wish the firmware on these was similar, because you can bet I'd be all over that, modifying what the NineBot is able to do.  But, I haven't been able to get my head around it yet, and will probably stop trying due to other projects going.

Test pilots with helmets and safe guards to the front ;)

I'll not update our 9b1. But I'll replace my wife's 9b1 with a more safety EU. The bugs of the old firmwares are not relevant for lightweight drivers. So the 9b1 will be freezed in case of firmware and will be handed over to the kids. No trust in their "engineers" any more.

  • 2 weeks later...

I upgraded it.

No issue, smooth ride... I have still trouble connecting via Bluetooth but after 2-3 tries it always works.

I have just been out for a 30 min ride and it used 35% of my battery. I'm wondering if this upgrade drains the battery quicker.

Any other feedback?

I also updated just now.  I don't know if I'll be able to go for a ride today due to weather, but I'll report back as soon as I'm able to ride again.

Be aware that it changes the ride stiffness back to 3 by default, so remember to reset that if you want to.

I'm curious to know what this means when I ride next:  "Optimize the algorithm of motor, improve the ridding experience"  It already rode nice. I hope I don't lose any of the nice ride it had.

On a preliminary ride around inside the house, it feels a LOT more "Precise".  It's hard to explain, but smoother running motor, and every small input I give is received as it should be.  It feels really nice.  I might get a chance to ride today in a while and if so, I will report back.  Hopefully, my Mother Board is still alive after a day of riding...  ;)

PS:  I'm running on "0" firmness.
