Hi.

yes thats what Im referring to.

A link popped up on my website stats so I took a look to see what it was about.

Thx!

Mike

Hi Mike welcome to the community. I'm from Cowtown just south of you. I can't speak for others but as an Albertan, I'm always happy to have an EUC retail presence here. Personally, I'd much rather patronize locally than some stranger thousands of miles away.

Being that you're new to this forum & a new retailer, pardon my 20 questions but I feel the need to know.

1.Do you have a physical store front or are you just an online virtual entity?

2.As your site mentions warranty, do you have a physical service center (if not a storefront) to provide this service?

3.If there's no storefront, can a purchase be picked up physically from you?

TIA

Hiya.

thanks for asking

1) nope no storefront. I've owned and operated businesses with storefronts for years and, as far as I'm concerned, having a storefront and therefore a need to pay rent and staff it will just result in costs that get passed on to the end purchaser. If the volume of business ever makes that reasonable and desirable I'd be happy to take that step. But the euc community is just too small atm.

2) I do have a physical service centre, its my shop at home haha. I have about 1400 sq ft dedicated to my shop so plenty of space. Also, while I am not that experienced with the repair of electronic gizmos I have lots of friends who are. They are happy to help. When we need to fix something, it'll get fixed.

3) As far as delivering a new wheel or accepting one for service I am happy to meet. I actually have a few storefronts in Edmonton where wheels can be dropped off or picked up but that business has nothing to do with euc's. All the staff there know about my euc addiction and think its hilarious that I started riding these things at age 62. They will be happy to help.

btw my euc cronies and I were talking about the idea of organizing an event or 2 next spring here in Alberta. Just a get together in Calgary Edmonton or Red Deer or perhaps all three. Let people try some new wheels, organize a ride or two, maybe do a bbq or something like that afterwards.

Let me know if there's any interest.

cheers

Mike

@FreeFlyMike fair 'nuff Mike. Having run businesses before, I know a bit about overhead & stuff. & you're right that ATM, EUCs are still a very very niche market in Canada although I hear GVA BC is doing much better than AB. Perhaps a more encompassing store with other forms of PEVs might be more viable but I digress.

Far's events, I warmly welcome you & other Deadmontonians to Cowtown. It'll be fun alright. Locally for you, maybe you should contact @winterwheel as he's our resident snow specialist, for wheels at least😅!

I maybe interested in doing some business with you. Any chance you take trips down to my neck of the woods?

I'm super pumped that we have an Edmonton/Alberta wheel source, riding every day for the last your years as I have it's been a continual frustration to tell people they have to mail order wheels knowing joe and jane civilian will never do that. Having a local source, even without a storefront, is a big step to solving that.

Mike and I have connected on quite a few things as he worked to get his GoWheels site ramped up, massive thumbs up from me.

This is a good outcome, happy I asked the question on the other thread!

Mike, perhaps make a couple changes to the website so it's more obvious you're in Edmonton? It may lead wary internet travelers like myself to ask fewer questions.

Do you take paypal?

thanks I appreciate that.

I naively figured my location didn't matter as I planned just to deal in Canada, hence the free shipping. But I suppose people want to know where I am and of course it's relevant for service.

yes PayPal is good. Also Visa and Mastercard via Moneris

PayPal was good!

I ordered the wheel from Mike on Sunday, it arrived the following Wednesday (3 days later) morning along with a tasty chocolate bar :clap3:

So far, so good, my RS is running well. That said, Mike has been clear that he'll help me out if I have any issues while at the same time not trying to micro manage me or tell me I shouldn't do things like pop it open to take a look etc.

Friendly, speedy, good communication -- I can recommend Go Wheels Canada!

I may as well reply here. One day shipping to YYC and a great price. Nice upgrade from the V8 to the RS torque. I was considering ordering from China last fall as I didn't receive a reply from the major US distributors about import duties and the likes (to be fair, it was likely due to covid.)

I was getting ready to pull the trigger when I ran across gowheels. A quick search later brought me to this thread. Honestly, by the time you pay the paypal exchange rate it is pretty close in price. It was one day away (for me) and you are supporting local. Doesn't get much better than that.

I concur with that DWOTR, I just got my S18 from Mike at goWheels as well and he swapped the panels to convert his white stock version to a black version which I wanted and he shipped it Friday and I had it Monday morning in Okotoks, AB, CAD, so nice fast shipping, good service and prices, especially supporting local business.

Any way to sign up for details on something like this? I started last September and am feeling like I'm outgrowing the wheel I've got now, would love to try new wheels now that I have more experience

The current plan is to have a Red Deer event on June 26th, it was going to be in May but pandemic restrictions forced a delay.

@eedok Once the latest pandemic restrictions (no outdoor gatherings) are lifted we'll be meeting every Sunday at noon at Ritchie arena. I'll be bringing out whatever wheels I have available and people who show up are normally pretty amenable to having other experienced riders try them out. Right now the plan is for these to resume Sunday May 30.

@eedok you in Edmonton? There's a group that meets up, and one guy who rents wheels and brings a bunch out for people to try on the weekend.

Yep Terry taught me how to ride :p

Sundays are hard to make, but I might be able to do May 30th, will you make a post on the Yegwheel facebook page when they come back?

I had no idea Edmonton/Alberta had so many people with EUCs, I've never seen someone riding one in person.

If I had known about Go Wheels, I would have purchased from you.  I just bought my first EUC, a V8F, and I'm trying to learn how to ride.

The good news is that you can always purchase your upgrade wheel next year. The V8 is a blast. But next year you will be looking around and realizing that you want more range... or more power... or a second wheel.

I was surprised how many there are in Alberta as well.

I haven't seen anyone else riding one yet, but I ride mostly North side/St Albert, and the youtube videos people are putting up all seem to be around river valley

I'm North Side as well, Kingsway area.  I imagine the river valley is a popular place to ride.  I've had the wheel for a couple weeks, but I've only been brave enough to ride it to work the last few days.  I'm still pretty wobbly on turns and can't do sharp turns very well.  Passing people on sidewalks is a no-go at my current level of skill, the last thing I would want to do is clip somebody or drop off the edge of the sidewalk with the wheel.

I was real tempted already to go with something bigger right off the start.  The suspension wheels look nice.  I decided I should try it out on a cheaper wheel and I'm glad I did.  My brand new V8F looks like it's been through a war already, with the amount of falls I've taken while learning.  It would be a shame to put a nicer wheel through that.

You guys should come out to one of our Sunday rides. They are geared to all types of wheels and abilities -- a big wheel or lots of experience not needed. We won't be going this weekend (pandemic restrictions) but they should be resuming May 23. Noon at Ritchie Community League we hang at the outdoor rink, do demos, do some cone stuff, try out wheels etc. I bring out the S-18 and EX to these and there's often a V11 or two if you're wanting to try out suspension. Usually there's at least one Sherman as well.

At 1:15 or so we do a 20-25km (usually, all depends who shows on the day) gentle ride in the river valley with lots of breaks.

When you're ready for speed/range runs or technical rides, these go on Saturdays, but you'll need some experience and a robust wheel for those.
