Popular Post WILSONEUC
I received my Clark Pads after ordering from Chris Clark on facebook. (You can find him on the electric unicycle club facebook page, and euc stunt group. https://www.facebook.com/christopher.m.clark.96 EDIT: NOW YOU CAN ORDER DIRECTLY ON CLARKPADS.COM Mister Clark has something interesting going on, and provides a great service. However, when ordering, you will need to pay him through paypal and set up your order via messaging him on facebook or by emailing him. EDIT: YOU PAY ON THE WEBSITE NOW The cost of the pads, I will not say it here, but they are competitively priced compared to other pads. (its worth it!) After what seemed like 5 days, i received my pads. In good condition, glued up and ready to rock. (excellent customer service!) Chris Clark also does has recommendation on how to apply and position the pads if you message him about it. The clark pads are fairly decent. The version 2 pads feel soft, sturdy and conforms to my legs just great! I fitted them on, on both 16x, and rs19 hs. Mine are tailored for the RS19 more . You do get the sense of being locked in and feel you can pull off a jump with them on. However, this added locked in feeling does change the dynamic of your riding experience: 1.) Almost impossible to ride seated with these on. You are locked in place, you need some extra , careful finesse to be able sit on your euc with the clark pads on. (EDIT: Still true for me, any advice on placement for no fuss seated experience with these pads on??) 2.)The locked in feeling isnt for everyone. Do you choose between feeling free on the wheel but less locked in or locked in but not feeling free? 3,)These clark pads work best when glued on your wheel. Using double sided velcro does work, but there is the possibility you may release the velcro when jumping. EDIT: DOUBLE SIDED VELCRO WORKS FINE, IGNORE THIS COMMENT LOL 4.)The possibility of not able to bail from your wheel freely when locked in with clark pads. 5.)If you like a more locked in feeling along your toe/heel, may need to bring the pads down but with that you may not be able to close your pedals. EDIT: CLARK IS ACCEPTING PREORDERS FOR CLARK PEDALS THAT HELP YOU GET A CLOSE FEELING TO YOUR TOES AND HEEL AND STILL BE ABLE TO CLOSE THE PEDAL. Im uncertain if the pedals are made for every wheel or just the sherman With the concerns set aside, there are many positives to those who may want this sort of pad. 1.)When applied to the wheel, the leg layer is thin and does not widen your stance all that much. 2.)The glue was super strong. 3.)Material looks like plastic rubber, but it is very durable and flexy and shows no sign of ripping apart easily. (still going strong!) 4.)Can use just as a power pad when brought up higher near the knee (without being locked in) 5.)Chris Clark is informative and has a great love for the product made. 6.)not overly stiff, has a soft feeling on the power pad portion. 7.)Once set correctly, you can pull off jumps easily if you never practiced jumping before. You feel more stable over bumpy terrain. 8.)easy acceleration and braking with the power pad. Feels cushy! UPDATED IMPRESSION 3.18.21 Ive tested this on the 16X, RS19 HS, AND VETERAN SHERMAN. At the time before Chris started the website, all orders were placed through email or facebook to him. He inquired about my shoes, the wheels pedal dimensions and the kind of wheel i was riding. I recieved gen 2 pad but im not sure if my pad is any different than the universal gen 2 pads seen on his website now.(waiting on word back from Chris about if there are any difference) I know for certain that for me anyway, it is still hard to sit with these pads on. When i say this, once i get a nice locked in feeling on the feet and heel, I would try to sit and when sitting i need my heel to go up. The back knob of the pad restricts this and fiddling around with my foot positioning away from the nubs is a bit tedious . Plus, when sitting your knee needs to go past the acceleration part of the pad and the pad makes it hard to do that. This is a pad you want to constantly find the right adjustment for, and i recommend double sided velcro application . Im waiting to try a new pair of gen 2 pads along with the anticipated clark pedals for my Sherman. Ill report back once i find a good solid adjustment and if im able to ride seated without issue. After testing on both my RS and 16X, (AND NOW SHERMAN) personally, i have come to the conclusion i like riding WITHOUT clark pads. Im sure they will be great to strap on, on a day where you KNOW you will be performing jumps, and tricks but as an overall, casual pad...in my opinion I will not be using them as my main pad for my wheels, and i do not feel safe with them on if i need to escape my wheel freely without any restriction from being locked in. However, for those who are into jumping, and enjoy the locked in feeling, this is perfect for you! despite my concerns, i highly recommend these pads 100 percent! I give it a 9/10, 1 point take off for constant adjustment to find the right locked in feeling. When you get that locked in feeling, most likely you will not be able to close your pedals due to the large nob that cradles the front of your foot. Dreygun
Got mine yesterday and have exact same thoughts. I tried mine higher up on the 16x so I'm not too locked in, but trying to go seated and up and again on the dime won't happen. Harder material than the 5$ neoprene jump pads I made, so movements on the wheel are more jerky. Like you said, perfect for doing jumps and tricks, but cruising around and wanting to sit and stand when I need to, over and over, I didn't feel safe doing so. I'm selling mine if I find a buyer local (Toronto, Ontario, Canada), because these aren't for me. I tried to like them. Same 9/10 score from me as well. Was 290$ cdn to get them to my door yesterday. I feel uncomfortable using Clark Pads for this reason. When traveling at high speeds you sometimes have to prepare for the possibility of bailing unexpectedly. Clark Pads add another hurdle to overcome when having to bail on a wheel. I do enjoy the pads for quick acceleration and braking. They are perfect for off road. 8.5/10
