helmet Posted November 1, 2020 Posted November 1, 2020 For me it's for fun like a merry go round and a trapeze it's a social high and a physical high, a personal statement about technology, why you ride ? 1 Quote
RockyTop Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 I just wanted to keep up with my daughter and wife on their bikes while they trained for triathlons. I picket the EUC because I wanted something different. 1 Quote
Sludog Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 Looking for more of a challenge from my Onewheel XR riding. Different ride experience for sure so far but the first few days having a blast. Might change my view if I smack the pavement. 2 Quote

Surfling Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 (edited) The sheer simplicity and convenience. I've ridden bikes, skateboards, In-line skates to get around and work in the city . Edited November 2, 2020 by Surfling 2 Quote
KiwiMark Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 I want to get out and explore different places, an EUC seems like a fun way to do it. I also have plans to buy a motorhome at some point (probably still a few years off) and a small compact PEV would be great for use as a secondary vehicle to explore the surroundings. 2 Quote

Popular Post mhpr262 Posted November 2, 2020 Popular Post Posted November 2, 2020 (edited) I was hooked the first time I saw someone riding one on the internet. The sheer neatness and simplicity of the concept were fascinating and I knew I had to get one and learn to ride myself. It has been a long and painful road along with a not so minor injury but now I'm here, four years later. Edited November 6, 2020 by mhpr262 4 Quote
Flying W Posted November 3, 2020 Posted November 3, 2020 It's the ultimate mind meld between man and machine. More fun than a motorcycle, while also being much safer, which is odd since we all know fun increases exponentially as safety drops Wheels are fun at any speed and I don't think I can say that about any other mode of transport. 1 Quote
mike_bike_kite Posted November 3, 2020 Posted November 3, 2020 For me, it just smells of the future, I always feel like I'm in some sci fi film as I ride along. 2 Quote
helmet Posted November 6, 2020 Author Posted November 6, 2020 loaded into this topic for me is the risk of riding and euc, I am risking life and limb, that is part of the thrill of riding. And I consider how the opposite balance helps me feel more normal. 1 Quote

And I consider how the opposite balance helps me feel more normal. You are NOT alone. There are still many thrill chasers that KNOW of the risk and its one of the reasons we choose to do what we do. Its all a matter of perspective, but being all safe and cozy isnt always my idea of a good time. Adrenaline, great drug, free, homemade.... Hell, I spend a lot of time wondering if I'll tumble off the side of the road and land in a heap in a creek. Will I hit the front of a car. Will a car run me over.. ALL of these possibilities are part of what makes it a thrill. Pushing harder and harder keeps the thrill anew. Not a big fan of the equipment failure possibility, but yup, its part of it too. All you gotta do is get in a dandy high speed crash and time seems to almost stand still. The acute awareness and heightened senses for the short moment in 'time' is absolutely spiritual. If i hit hard enough, i'd bet the meat wagon will find a grin glued to my face, as the period of time right BEFORE impact is glorious. Quote
helmet Posted November 6, 2020 Author Posted November 6, 2020 true, the pain and awareness of having the wind knocked out of me, happened on a mt bike, yet I never really crashed on an euc. I have kind of crashed and rolled on euc, yet broken collar bones and over the cliff things always happened on bicycles. I ride euc fairly cautiously, yet , have always had my worst accidents on bikes. Quote

Low-Battery Posted November 22, 2020 Posted November 22, 2020 It is the best form of transportation in a densly populated city. Convenient and compact. 3 Quote
Ben Kim Posted November 23, 2020 Posted November 23, 2020 I ride for transport, I’ve ridden enough miles for it to stop being a form of recreation and a legitimate car replacement for many trips. 3 Quote
Popular Post Scottie888 Posted November 23, 2020 Popular Post Posted November 23, 2020 While my Tesla & S18 are still mostly recreational, my Mten3 has since become much much more. Its now my legs for all chores round the hood, if applicable ofcos. The supermarts I go to are round 5-10km range which perfectly matches the Mten. Sometimes when its not possible for a do all on a single trip, I even volunteer (to the amazement of the wifey) to make multi trips. The lil' wheel that can & could is just sooo much fun even doing stupid things like groceries. I just wish it came with a "winter" pkg as I'd gladly buy that just for riding in snow & ice conditions. 4 Quote

I hear ya but still the Mten3 is just soo special & unique as a last mile commuter. Sure I want more speed & range offa the Mten3 but its a want as opposed to a need. As is, the lil' wheel is just about perfect esp on sidewalks, mixing with pedestrians, tossing on small shopping carts (in Asian marts), events in parks & whatnot. Got other wheels for more range & speed but they feel so lumbering & stiff when vs the Mten3. I've grown to lov the lil' wheel more more each time I ride it. Everyone should have one in their autos & they'll never need to pay for parking nor walk again😍 Quote

I have a V10 and it handles rough pavement like a champ. Quote

Surprisingly (or not I guess) it does fine on loose dirt/gravel/sand. 10" tubeless tires are definitely not the last word on absorbing impacts either so I try not to jump its plus the weaker axle might fail under high impact duress. That said, the best remedy on rough pavement is to go slow(er) & IMO, there's nothing like the Mten3 in that regard. I can easily slow down to baby walking speed which makes it the best in a crowd. The one thing I really like is doing small pendulums/spins/twists/etc in a small area without dismounting while waiting for a light. Its a very fun wheel for sure & a must have for any enthusiast. 2 Quote
