UKJ Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 Thanks to this fine forum bought a KINGSONG KS 14c in 2015, WOW time flies! The axle bent cracked after about a year and a half but KS France honoured warranty and replaced even with newest motherboard at that time. I must admit I did jump curbs and aggressive off road which did lead to first failure. Again thanks to this forum read to check capacitors for bulging, puffing and have seen this in other PCB so opened my E U C. As I now know that this models axle is possibly fragile I have NEVER jumped or ANY off road to hopefully help it last. Close inspection shows axle starting to bend down of course on wire thru axle hole side, the weaker side as other has much smaller hole. Only a very few degrees but noticeable with 90° square, I did not see when wheel assembled. There is a "cut out" section on the upper axle side hole to allow spring reinforced wires to pass up the pedal supports. I do see that I can flip the axle routing the wire not inside the cut out so slight bend is now up. Is this a good idea? My idea being that it should slowly bend down to 90° after months as it bent down after months. As this model is no longer available replacement axle might be hard to find, ideas? I have sent KS France an email asking is replacement axle is available, no reply for now. Do I need to post photos for better understanding? I could shim the axle inside the alu pillar pedal support to get perfect 90°, thoughts? My beloved wheel still rolls fine and because I care for batteries even though old they still provide plenty off time and power. NEVER had a cut out and other than weak axle issues this wheel has served me well. Covid hit me hard as my work is event related so funds for a new EUC are just not there so sure would like to keep what I have alive as long as possible. Maybe should just reassemble and ride till failure? There seems no way to reinforce axle providing more material therefor strength or not? Any and all info ideas well considered. U K J Quote
UKJ Posted October 3, 2020 Author Posted October 3, 2020 So mounted pedal pillars 180° and wheel works fine. Of course can see the 1° angle UP now but will be most careful of the left side and keep close eye on it. Time will tell. Just read someone had idea to build "frame" around case linking pedals, anyone done this and has photos, specs please. Merci, UKJ Quote
