MoMing Posted September 30, 2020 Posted September 30, 2020 I assume this is already in the forum somewhere, but I searched and couldn't find it. Has anyone come up with a good idea for foam or rubber bumpers to protect the EUC from crashes/falls while learning? I see they sell some foam tape on Aliexpress but I don't want to wait a month for shipping to US. Thanks! Quote
Waulnut Posted October 1, 2020 Posted October 1, 2020 I use something like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CQT344B/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fab_0UuDFbGDK096Z It's soft so the euc can still be scratched up, but better than nothing Quote
MoMing Posted October 1, 2020 Author Posted October 1, 2020 Thanks, that's exactly what I was thinking of! But I got anxious to try out my toy, so I fashioned protection out of a piece of pipe insulation from my hardware store and some Gorilla tape. I haven't tried it out yet, but it looks like it will do the job. https://www.dropbox.com/s/km39bf28na3nduk/IMG_20201001_082010.jpg 1 Quote
Ben Kim Posted October 6, 2020 Posted October 6, 2020 Baby foam doesn’t do anything. I use this stuff on the front and back of my wheels (except sherman doesn’t need it) Cowles T3602C Black Half Round Wheel Well https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001EA0M0I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ZdlFFbN3RB60J 1 Quote
Surfling Posted October 6, 2020 Posted October 6, 2020 The foam bumpers & tape that came w/ my EUC wasn't sticky enough and would come off. I needed something reliable. For crash/scratch protection, I use this on all my mtnbikes and it worked well on the EUC edges - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009NP1N0Y/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 On the EUC areas that gets hit hardest: Pedal edges etc. I cut some surfboard traction pads that I have laying around. Like these - https://www.amazon.com/Surfboard-Surfboards-Skimboards-Shortboards-Longboards/dp/B08DRHRPPG/ref=pd_ybh_a_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=NSG8PD1679FVKMFSJ1EB So far, no issues. 1 Quote
RockyTop Posted October 6, 2020 Posted October 6, 2020 (edited) As a beginner you can wrap your EUC in towels and packing tape. Just keep in mind that once you become more aggressive the towel might I encourage overheating. And watch to make sure that the towel does not get caught in the tire. BigSkyGlide Posted October 7, 2020 Posted October 7, 2020 (edited) Here is what I did for my 16X, and it works great! It's high density EVA foam cut out to match the panels with some 3M double-sided tape. It looks way better than a lot of the things I've seen others use and it's way tougher! Tinkererboi Posted October 7, 2020 Posted October 7, 2020 My goal was mainly weatherproofing, but then again this soft non-abrasive grip tape also works well for scratch protection. Good speed+jumping pads also help soak up most of the crashes easy without any scratches. Quote
