Popular Post Willy510
3D printed up some extra turn signals and brake lights. They are using the same signal as the taillight so the turn signals activate amber when you lean a little and the brake comes on to make everything red when you stop, you can see it flash full for a sec near the end of the video. They just clip onto the metal bars and I used a jack splitter so you just plug them in into the regular brake light jack. This version has PETG dual color lens but the final version will have flexible TPU dual color lens so they will flex instead of crack if they meet something hard, I'm just out of red TPU right now.
houseofjob
@Willy510 Nice mod! So you just took regular LED strips and made them a 3D printed diffusing housing? The board is sending the turn/brake signal, no need for special LED controller? Is the wiring same for both of these LED sides?

It is one continuous circuit of 3 wires. Facing the rear of the wheel you start at #1 pixel at the top and solder the wires from the plug and at the bottom of that strip you solder 3 wires that go over to the other strip and are attached at the bottom of that strip which is #11 and #20 is on top of that strip. Pay attention to the arrows on the pixels strips, the one one the left points down and the right one points up.

Mango
I'm looking into adding some daytime running lights with a pair of daylight-balanced strip of LEDs running parallel to the wheels in the front, powered most likely by tapping in with the rear lamps. The lights will turn on and off as you normally would turn off the rear lights by briefly pressing the power button. I was hoping as more people get their Shermans, more mod instructions pop up on the internet but so far not much in way of detailed how-tos. This thread is a good start but unfortunately my level of electronics know-how is limited so what I've read so far it might as well be written in Russian. Looking to add USB/USB-C charging ports but this is another project for another day.

Stock rear light is a 5v pixel array and the front is 12v with 2 outputs.
Willy510
Finished up what I thought would be the final version of the flexible lens brake and turn signals and they turned out great but then my symmetrical OCD kicked in once I noticed that the red light function wasn't even under all circumstances so back to the drawing board and I'm moving the brake function to the rear fender and going to switch the side light to just turn function and all orange. Second pic is just the new rear flexible lens that will get molded into the flexible rear fender reprint.

I mean, that's great and is in no way a criticism. But just look at your tire; it's like brand new. Props to you for your awesome mods!

Wild Caribou
I'm curious to know how you are powering all those lights. External (battery bank) or internal power from the wheel?

You can tell he has it wired to the system because the left and right lights know to light up when the wheel leans one way of the other...the same way the turn signals work on the stock "superman" brake light.

There are lights that will fit in the recesses but I don't like the way it looks or functions, mine also protect the tubes in the event of a crash and only cost about $15 in total to make if I need to replace

I was wondering why I didn't see your designs on Thingiverse.... I really liked all your designs for the EUC's! Is there any way you can still share it privately for people like me who appreciate your work and don't sell it? I ordered the Sherman yesterday from Ewheels and would love to print out some of the stuff you made for the Sherman....
