EX vs. RS - tire and motor differences?

Here's a nice size overview of all the current Gotway wheels with the RS and EX in the middle.

And here you see them up closer:

Two questions that are confusing me:

  • Tire:
    RS is listed as 19'', EX is listed as 20''. Does the EX just have a knobbier tire that makes it count as 20 instead of 19? Is the rim size the same?
  • Motor:
    You can clearly see they have different motors. The RS has a smaller motor plus the outer ring with the holes in it, the EX motor goes right to the outside of the rim. The RS is advertised as having the new "hollow motor". So obviously these aren't the same motors? The EX has a bigger motor (presumably hollow and the same used on the Monster Pro). Why would they not use the same motors for the same size of wheels (EX and RS)? Are there three new Gotway motors (RS torque, RS speed, EX/MonsterPro)?

This doesn't make sense to me. Shouldn't 1800Wh 4p be plenty enough to drive their motors? What does the voltage drop have to do with motor construction? And isn't the lift speed due to outer diameter differences (same max rpm gives different top speeds)?

1800wh is plenty for the RS/MSP motor, EX motor is bigger and so the amp draw, think about MSP :

on the same battery you could run the 2000W up to 98km/h, the bigger one 2500W has been limited to 80km/h for safety reason ;)

and yes, same rpm with different tire gives different top speed, but here the limit is related by the battery, 2700 vs 3600wh

RS like MSP use the cst 1488 "18x3.0 street tire" who result precisely in a 19.5 overall diameter
EX use a kenda k304 who probably is a bit bigger, like the knobby for example cst 186 and kenda k262 are both 20.3 inch 

MSP use a classic motor with central axle 2500W c38 torque version, 2000W c30 speed version
RS will use new generation hollow motor but basically the same size of MSP, we'll have a c38 torque motor (2600W) and a c30 speed motor (not sure 2600W )
MSP-RS lift speed are the same (80 and 98 km/h), and so the performance ;)

EX and M24pro use new generation hollow motor with bracket mounting, the same on both wheels 3500W

yes like i said at the beginning:thumbup:

The power coming from the batteries to the motor is determined by the controller, not the motor.  It's possible to use the same motor with different controllers and power levels... also, if they'd choose a higher drain cell (like a samsung 40t) in the RS, then the they could EASILY pull 3,500 watts and beyond from a smaller pack (but yes, there would be a small reduction in capacity)

The battery and controller need to be balanced...but there'd be nothing wrong with running 2,500 watts through a motor capable of 3,500 watts....but it's likely the 2,500 watt motors are cheaper which is why they used them.  The battery controller pairing is more important to balance...the motor is more flexible (although they can be overheated with too much power for too long...but I've pushed some pretty high power through direct drive motors with no issue)

The lift speed could be entirely because of the tire size difference, with an 24 inch OD compared to the 20 inch of the EX you have a 1.2 gain in distance per Revolution of the motor, resulting in a top speed of 103.2 given the same RPM as EX.

Motor and battery need to be balanced ( otherwise you'll cut like s18 )

You need to check what means KV in BLDC motor. We dont know KV of gotway motors, but KV and battery VOLTAGE determinate v-max.
