really? i've more than 6000 km on mine and seems still fine, i really like it.
h5102 has grip only on dry streets, still need to try the kenda k340 .

@mrelwood - in your experience, does the 80/100-14 street tire size fit MSuper's well?

I think 80/100 is usually a motocross size, but 80/90 and 80/80 should find suitable street and crossover tires.

The actual tire diameters vary quite a lot from model to model though, so if one 80/90-14 fits, another 80/90-14 could be not even close.

But I wouldn’t even try a motorcycle street tire on an EUC. H-5102 excluded, all factory install EUC tires are crossovers, so they are designed for both street and dirt. A MC tire is designed for many times the weight and speed of an EUC rider so they’re always made of harder rubber. You might find yourself with a tire that has worse grip than the H-5102 on wet or dirt roads.

If you look at the Sherman street tire, it also has a lot of deep grooves to offer enough grip on dirt as well. I wouldn’t go slicker than that.

Shipping on some MSPRS's now...

It's rated for use as a tubeless tire, wonder if Gotway put a tube in it or if this is the first OEM Tubeless MSuper?

Does anyone know if the wheel well on the RS is wider than the MSX? I wonder if the 80 width Conti would fit the MSX...

And it would be easy to see if Gotway is running tubes or not - just look at the base of the valve for a rubber grommet :)

Thats not the oem tire, all RS's are coming with a CST-1488. Frank put that Conti on the day he got it. He did put a tube in it.

Pilot in 80/90

My gut feeling is that this 80 width tyre is too wide for the skinny 30mm internal width MSX rim. I'm pretty sure thats a lot narrower than the small motorcycle rim its designed for. Now this might not be a problem, but it does mean the tyre is 'pulled in' more than it should be which makes for a very rounded profile. How this affects handling we shall see, but lets just say theres no way I will be getting anywhere near the edge of the tread lol.

For the above reason, I am not sure that a 70 width would actually be much narrower once fitted. This one measures at just over 75mm, so only about 5mm wider than the stock H5102. The rim width is always going to limit just how wide any tyre will turn out. If someone has a 70 width Pilot fitted to an MSX/MSP it will be interesting to see ifs actually any narrower once fitted than this 80 width.

I did get a few rubs on one side of the inner shell. I dremmeled away a shallow groove and its all but gone but I do want to spend some more time trying to centre the wheel a bit better and then try to centre the tyre. I pretty much just slapped it on and there is a bit of run-out which I am sure I can reduce. There is very little room to play with using this tyre, and because of that I don't think I could recommend it and therefore suggest that using the 70/90 version instead might be a better bet. As a note, my shell isn't particularly mis-aligned either - far less than some other MSX's I have seen.

I've only ridden about 60 miles now but its safe to say you will sacrifice some high speed maneuverability for added grip. Below 20mph it feels no different than the mmg or cst tires I've used. It is by far the quietest and smoothest tire I've used to date. No comment on wet weather grip yet but I will report back. It may be too soon to comment on the life of the tire or how durable it is but given how convenient it was and the cost I'd buy it again. I purchased it for just over $22 on amazon one Dec 30 and it has gone up in price since but it is still a bargain all things considered.

Hoping for suggestions...

I've owned H5102, C-186, and K262.

For street use, I like H5102's behavior, but I'm nervous with it around broken glass because the tread seems very thin.
C-186 is actually more carefree on the street for me, since the thick tread seems so robust to damage (but carving is very different).

I've ridden C-1488 and generally like it, but it wears out very fast.

Other possibilities below- has anyone tried these?

Thx

@houseofjob also had a lovely reply to the Sherman thread:

So which one of these would be the best option for all year riding on a msp tubeless ??

Best?
There's no such thing :)

New York winter?
If you need to push though slush and snow, get an AT tire like K262. (This thread is about street tires.)

Tubeless on the tiny MSuper rim?
Bad idea... buddy did it and unseated the bead with a relatively tame curb drop. Walking home sucks.
