Johnson Lai
Hi all. I’d like to ask for some advice. I bought my first wheel (V8F) in July, and I LOVE it. However therein lies my problem: I found my desire to ride is often outlasting its range (24-30km). I’m now looking at the KS-16S. Generally I use it for recreation, mostly on paved trails and bike lanes. I’m a conservative rider; max speed and acceleration are not as important to me (I cruise at a relaxing 20-ish km/h). What is your opinion? Thanks in advance!
null
Hi, happens to most here The 16S is nice and has a range of about 50+km, you might outgrow it too though, there are some decently priced MSX or other 18" wheels these days.
meepmeepmayer
Seems like a waste of money to me. I'd just get a bigger battery wheel instead (used or new). Or a V10F instead of the 16S (not sure about prices though).
mrelwood
The 16S is more of a side step from the V8F, not a clear upgrade. 50km on the 16S is a bit of a reach. For a 200+ lbs rider the ride stopped being as fun at around 35-40km. However, riding at 20km/h one would probably get to 50km. So if you’re absolutely certain that you don’t need any more power and range, the 16S can be just what you need. Generally though if 30km is not enough, you better aim much higher, and not plan on using the maximum range of the new wheel. Maybe consider V10F as well? It’s much more comfortable than a 16S that has next-to-useless sidepads.
Toshio Uemura
If you want something stylish that draws the looks and something safe, satisfying and special take a look at the Z10 (they have become rather „cheap“ in price these days, but over time you might outgrow the solid 35 - 40 km range and the solid, super safe 40+ km/h speed might no longer be enough for you. Then indeed the MSX might be a good choice that will definitely keep you happy for a while. (But... The Z10 is a great wheel. I got two of them, just in case and because I couldn’t be a day without it. 😝)
Kekafuch
There are V8F battery expansion articles floating on the internet.
mike_bike_kite
I ride a 16S and, though I love it, I don't think it will offer that much more range over your V8F. I get a max of 35 km but I weigh 96Kg and I tend to ride at near it's tops speed 34kmh. Personally I'd just get a KS18XL or KS16X as these have much better ranges but obviously they weigh more too. If the weight is difficult then perhaps a Gotway Tesla with the 1480Wh battery - it will go further and faster (perhaps unnecessary for you) but it might not be quite so bullet proof as the KS wheels or your V8f.
