Popular Post Unventor
Okey so a little update to my V11 story. I managed to rebuild my newest V11. So I had fitted the new motor with the factory seal and with the K66 80/90-14 Snowtex tire. And exchanged the drive board assembly, that is a driveboard mounted on the cooling block (you have to remove both lamp units to get to 2 screws under this). Also exchanged the main board (the top layer in the control board housing). All new part from Inmotion. And that is when the trouble began. On first boot up the wheel reported it demanded a new firmware update. But this one could not be downloaded. I tested with 2 different phone and with and with out wifi/mobile data action meaning one 1 at the time. No matter what and next morning it still couldn't update. One one occasion it started to report battery problem with one battery pack as low as 37V. I could only get any data with Inmotion Android app, no data was picked up by EUV.WORLD beside the connection was active. So I tested charging the wheel and the battery fault disappeared. I could do a balance calibration while the wheel was rested on its stand. No issue at all on this. I could also do a motor calibration and no issue on this either. When set in balanced mode it fet okey and it reacted as expected trying to force the wheel to tilt forward or backwards, i mean it felt really strong. So this is when I made a bad decision against my gut feeling. I went to go shopping as it is only 1,2km away and I ride this part often, when I have a working wheel. So my urge to ride took over my better judgement. When I were mounting the prototype Bodyguard from roll.nz, I could hear something seeping out that I at the time thought what the top suspension. But it could also be a noise from a bad condensator. BUt the suspension felt okey, so I thought I should manage for the short ride. Yet another link of bad decisions. About 500m from my house on a temporary gravel part due to roadwork and water pipes in the ground repair, it just died on me. Cut out and in a turn off state. Not possible to turn back on. And this was at 25-30kmh. I went down very fast only managed to extend my arms to avoid hitting head on the ground, and first touch was my knees. I am surprised by the force I hit the ground and how fast it went. The wheel tilted forward and hit with headlight unit on the ground, getting some scrapes on the top. Also my right palm got some gravel scratch marks, and that had to be cleaned and using alcohol (covid 19 hand disinfection) to clean the wounds. So now I am still waiting for a response from Inmotion on what to do. THe first few day I felt the impact had been much harder than I first thought. But had I not had my lvl 2 3D0 and MC suit on it would have been much worse. This time I had no wristguard and no gloves on. Also this was a poor choice on my end. I still have a new set of drive board assembly and main board. So I should be able to get one V11 wheel up and running. But for now I am not entirely sure what happened. So that is why I have been waiting for a response from Inmotion. It is hard to keep the urge of riding in check. The really bad part is once the trust of a wheel is gone it is not a joy to ride that wheel anymore. I am just glad I didn't take it to 50kmh. Lets say I crashed at 25kmh. that means at 5 kmh the impact I had felt would be 4x as high maybe more as it would go so much faster to go down or so I would anticipate this. I just wonder if people think of this when they are now talking about a new 60mph wheel in coming soon that would be around 100kmh, and that would be a cut out at 4x more impact what my wheel could do. or 16x times the impact I just felt. I think that will be a severe injury you will be looking at regardless. Now I escaped with minor scrapes and strained upper arm muscles due to using my arms to mitigate the forward momentum and of course the direct impact to both knees. I am sharing this to highlight , be smart about your decisions you make when riding. And despite someone think it is a limited risk, there is still a risk factor. Please learn from my mistake before something bad happens with you as a rider having a craving to ride fast.

You are learning a lot by working the wheels this deeply and you should be able to write a book about the repairs and final fix. The urge to ride is powerful. Do you still ride your V10f or 18L during all this? Is your trust of the wheel gone because of what you are going through on your particular wheels and repairs? Or do you distrust the V11 design and would not even want to ride another brand new V11? Do you think you can regain the trust of the wheel by riding the wheel slowly and carefully in a test mode for many kilometers over many sessions?

Do you think you can regain the trust of the wheel by riding the wheel slowly and carefully in a test mode for many kilometers over many sessions? Well for now I am not really riding which is the huge problem. I got so used to suspension that I sold my KS16X and bough a 2nd V11. The V10f has a leaking tube/valve that I need to get a new tube for. The KS18L and I have a big crash history but should be fully repaired, yet it has a problem with lift sensors due to being analog and new fw is designed for digital (switches that the shell cannot fit). The KS18L FW is made to auto calibrate the lift sensors but it is not a fail proof system. Since I trolley a lot when shopping it just makes this annoying to take for shopping. Once you have worked on the V11 it is only a matter for removing screws in general. Just like a home build PC. It is learning what order to do this smart that can be a little tricky. And I do with we have a bit better guides to go by from the manufacturer. The PDF guide from the French reseller are good, and the video from @mrelwoodis great too. I made this collection so if someone finds more interesting stuff they can link to it. The big problem here is Inmotion heavily relays on resellers and use these as service points. But not all countries have a reseller and some are not just around the corner as you car reseller.
Popular Post Unventor
So today I had my first proper ride for a long time. I can only say I am very impressed by how this new tire works, K66 80/90-14. Since my last drive board have in after just 500m I didn't have full confidence in the wheel. Since trust is very important I decided to bring my wheel with me to Denmark. In general Denmark is know to be very flat. But if you look at elevation from the tour recording and view the pictures you will see I tried to stress the wheel and doing both slow climbs and "high speed". But due to last wipe out I had set max speed to 40kmh. Here is the tour. It have more pictures on the EUC.WORLD tour log. https://euc.world/tour/601306838228150 I didn't bring a video camera today. So the slideshow pictures are the best I could do. But I really pushed my boundaries today. Felt really great to be out riding for real again
Popular Post Unventor
So time for a little update. I made arrangements to go visit @mrelwood next weekend. Taking the car and bringing a V11 with me. So there are so many first time bucket list item tied into this trip. But for different reasons I have not ridden as much that past weeks. So today I went out on a test ride. Partly to get a feel for the wheel with my K66 80/90 tire, partly to retain my feets and legs for rides. So I went to my local IKEAfor coffee and apple cake, a standard ride for me now when I need to go for a pleasure ride. Almost like @Duf going to DD. I took a few pictures on the return ride. They are uploaded to the EUC.WORLD tour. And as usual the cat was unhappy with me going for a EUC ride. So I could help add a picture of her waking up as I can back in. https://euc.world/tour/602419222296214 I have added my pinlock cover to my Klim helmet again and it works very well to prevent visor from fogging up. But in direct sunlight it adds a little glare. But for colder time coming it means I can have helmet closed to avoid wind-chill. Also after today I have passed 200km on the new drive board and motor with factory mounter bearing seal. So far so good. As for my old V11 I finally have a new drive board incoming as they had been on out of stock status from Inmotion. Once I can complete the repair of my 1st batch wheel. I can compare the K66 80/90 vs K66 80/80 tire. There is a size difference that is noticeably. But I am not sure how much that makes a difference in the torque vector for each V11. A little more to come in a few weeks as the trip to Finland take some time out of the apartment.

It took an hour or two then she was deiced. Update: Come to think of it I am not sure if the can of fish had something to do with her (the princess cat) being friendly again. Flying W
@Scottie a mix of faith and suspicion sums it nicely That's how I feel climbing really steep trails at walking speed on my RS torque. I know in the back of my head that the gotgode will grenade itself prior to giving me a warning! So far so good, the C38s don't run very hot, but the suspicion is always there.

I got a new control/drive board last Wednesday. But it had been shipped with limited protection so the cooling block is broken. It is hard to tell if there is any other damage to the board just by looking at it. So it will maybe take some time to get my 2ńd V11 fixed up that I intend to use the 80/80 Snowtex version tire on. This is down to I have cold weather here in Sweden so I rather have winter tire on all the time vs having to swap tire for seasons.
Flying W
It's great that you will have two V11s up and running with all season and winter tires! I can't wait to mount mine on my RS. I'm not a big fan of the stock 1488, it wears really fast and has a mind of it's own sometimes. I'm hoping the K66 is more predictable in it's handling while giving good traction on both dirt and pavement. Most likely I'll fall in love with the tire and when it's time to replace it it won't be made anymore 🙂
mrelwood
15 hours ago, Flying W said: I'm hoping the K66 is more predictable in it's handling while giving good traction on both dirt and pavement. It most definitely is exactly what you’re hoping! Transitions from pavement to gravel or dirt during a turn still feel amazing to be since the wheel acts as if nothing happened. Very different from the C-1488 and some other bicycle category tires, that require a notable change in the amount of tilt. K66 is a tire that will eventually make the sudden mud patch worries a thing of the past. But it takes time to learn to trust a tire like this for what it deserves. 15 hours ago, Flying W said: Most likely I'll fall in love with the tire and when it's time to replace it it won't be made anymore 🙂 The K66 has been in production for a very long time already, and Heidenau doesn’t seem to generally just drop tires out of production. And even if they did, I’m certain the successor would be good as well. And if not, I will again find a tire that is!
Popular Post Unventor
Okey so time for a little update. I am going to share some footage from a trip I made. So time to play guess where and who... I know. It look like many other places. But actually this here is special. So next tip.. Okey it is just zoomed a bit. It is the same place more or less. So before we move on the where. Who is this? A few riders have had the fantastic pleasure to do group rides with him. This next tip isn't that great quality but well for you global audience it is beer from the country in question. And on the dinner buffet on the ferry to this place, it was included as much as you like, but I blame the phone not the photographer 😜 I will post one last photo. I believe it is his throne chair as The Tire God he is. Now the tire from the picture above is the K66 80/90-14 on a V11. And it is on his suggestion I used this particular tire on my trip. I took the car on a 500ish km drive and the over night ferry and ended up in Finland. Here I had a magical time on a great ride together with none less that the amazing @mrelwood The tire God himself. We just went on a pleasure cruise together. But it shows there is much more to riding than speed. We rode about 35km that day. I were more keen on the ride than to document it. But Eventually I couldn't resist taking out the phone to film this. It is as raw video as it gets. I only swapped lenses during filming on my OnePlus 9pro phone. So let's just say this post in a tribute to @mrelwood. I thank him for having time to have me swing by to a way too brief tour. But unfortunately I couldn't find more time this time around. I do hope I get to do this again maybe in spring and be able to go for a longer ride and stay. I guess time will tell. mrelwood
Thank you so much Rudi! It was so nice to have you visit, I had a great time. I didn’t know that you took a photo of my livingroom throne as well!
Popular Post Unventor
Alright this time it isn't directly Inmotion V11 as such I have an update about. And yet it is related. The Hextech pedals and what shoes to use with them. My old winter boots are great for grit tape but they never really were as great as my Vans Slip-on Pro. So I decided to get something new to be able to ride fall/winter season in more or less any weather. On last Friday I had a shopping ride into the city. It was killing my feet due to moist cold weather. The week before I had gone to city center into the Vans shoe store to look up models and fit and sizes. But I postponed to purchase anything. But as it was freezing my feet off in this weather I had the nagging on I had to buy something to fix this. In the end I ended up with this and another order that I tried to cancel. Unfortunately I did manage to stop the shipping of the first order that I revised to order these other much better suited for riding in my opinion. You can read more on the shoes here. But after first test ride I am pretty sure this is one of the best options I found so far. There many small details as the label on the heel that makes it easier to step of or out of the shoes. As it is shaped like a small triangle so you easier can use it to kick off or hold against with other foot. And at this time I am approaching 600km since my last drive board swap. So a coffee and cake run to local IKEA will put my riding range past this. So if I recall right all distance together should bring me passed 2000km on the V11. It might not sound like much but I have few rides past 25km in a day and with covid lockdown and restrictions I mostly ride less that 8km a day when I ride maybe even less. Now this is slowly changing and I ride just for the joy cruising but not at high speed. And with black ice patches I ride much more careful just now the past week. It is durable but it comes at a risk. What people might not know here is I have been on sick leave for some time now and will be this week and next week. In short I just had too much work over long time under the pandemic and finally my body shot down with a total loss of instant and short term memory. My trip to visit @mrelwood was around short after when I really got hit my the burnout. So I have been riding longer rides to charge my human battery with positive energy. And it is slowly getting better. It has been a real joy to ride with the "new" tire but despite being a winter tire you still have to be really careful on black ice. And with the high pedals of the V11 it is so easy to tilt the wheel sideways to turn. But on black ice that is a really bad idea. But it keeps me focus on what I do in that moment and I think it help my recovery a lot. Also a few other things are happening. But that is for another day. It might help me making a little more content. But we will see. Happy riding folks. Note: since I had a drive board go dead on me out of the blue, I have now set top speed at 40kmh. Maybe I will lower it during winter season even more. But the short warning here is consider you speed at all times what an instant failure of you wheel would mean to you. My previous incidents all happened around 30kmh ish and that were pain that I felt big time. Just a friendly reminder. Yes I take risks, but they are calculated and I try to minimise it as much as I can within reason.
Popular Post Unventor
So most of the snow is gone now in my area. But it is only temporary good news. End if next week the - 5C to - 10C is back which means probably black ice everywhere due to the melted snow and rain. So today I took the chance to ride to work. A colleague helped with taking a few fast shot of my winter gear as I were off to grab lunch. Note: the "fish eye lens effect is why I am wider around the waist. It has to be it, buggy phone app. 😏 Ohh BTW I also got to change to test next version of EUC.WORLD. I will show a little more of this after my hamburger lunch.
Unventor
It seems the in-app video function I am beta testing for @Seba didn't work as hoped. But Seba has been fast on the ball and hopeful for the fixed. So after working my 50% tomorrow I plan to do another test ride to see how it works. Now I don't see it as a YouTube killer, but it can serve great as to share a special moment of the tour. I like the idea, so I hope it becomes great like all the job Seba do. Now I decided to keep that in this thread for several reasons. Anyway it is part of my V11 ride experience and it helps me to understand how the wheel works.

But, as you wrote, it should be a nice addition to the tour record, along with already existing ability to add pictures to it. Of course for now it is lacking image stabilization, as it's a bit complicated thing. Unventor
Yay it came though the grinding encoding. Thanks King @Seba To explain why I rotated while recording the video, I were testing its behaviour of the app. Sorry for the rollercoaster sensation when watching the video. On the other hand view as artistic creators expression. 🙄 Anyway thanks for answers @Seba. I hope you will take of the Big announcements yourself. That said I am conducting more tests to have this released soon for other riders as bug-free as we can with my limited options and skills for testing.
