Duff said his other wheel had the z type bearing so maybe the answer is a waterproofing modification so water does not reach that part of the wheel. Quote

They don't have a spec sheet, but the 2nd and 3rd banners at the top of the page state that the fans are "waterproof and moistureproof". 1 Quote
