rolekl
I'm looking for something protective but more ventilated than my old goretex motorcycle jacket which gets a little bit too warm already at around 10-15 degrees C. I'd prefer something that doesn't scream motocross or downhill cycling (i.e. Fox Titan and similar) and is fairly easy to put on and off. Something I can wear for a commute through town without looking too silly. It's enough being on a wheel after all... Stumbled across this. Seems to get rather favourable reviews from the slower end of the motorcycle crowd, and Knox is known as a quality brand. OK, approx 300 EUR isn't cheap, but as long as it works... https://www.planet-knox.com/product/urbane-pro-armoured-shirt/https://www.flatoutmag.co.uk/gear/knox-urbane-pro-shirt/ Anyone has any experience with it? What alternatives have you found that performs to similar specs? Edited April 2, 2020 by rolekl
F.J. Abaya
This is what I wear during the summer and it’s been great for me so far. https://www.bohnarmor.com/product/all-season-airtex-armored-riding-shirt-black/
PennBruce
I wear a mesh motorcycle jacket with an upgraded back plate and no liner. The type of jacket you're looking at looks like it would be easier to put on and less bulky. BTW, one of the few advantages of being old is I don't worry about looking silly.

It looks like it will weigh less and be less bulky than the jacket I am currently using. Bohn also makes this version: https://www.bohnarmor.com/product/cool-air-mesh-armored-riding-shirt/ Bruce
tihoa
I have the Knox Urbane Pro Shirt. It's part of Knox's layering line up, the idea is for you to buy the armored shirt and pair it with one of their outer jackets that has this expansion on the sides so you can wear it with or without the shirt and it still looks normal (not puffy or stretched tight). The shirt can also velcro on a chest protector, and this is rare because not many other shirts do this and I've crashed and hit my ribs hard before. In terms of ventilation the shirt is pretty good if you don't wear anything over it. What you're paying for is the layering though, I use it with their denim jacket during winter and it's a great feel. If you don't care about the layering and just want a nice cool upper protection shirt / jacket for hot days then check out the Icon Mesh AF CE Jacket. The jacket can be adjusted to fit over you wearing a t-shirt or a sweater. Edited April 5, 2020 by tihoa

I can't seem to work out whether it's abrasion resistant in the same way as the Knox Urbane though. If it is, it really looks like a winner. I'm not particularly interested in the Knox layering, I just want a summer jacket that works as a stand-alone item, possibly with a rain proof over if it gets wet. Blicky Te⚡️la
How do these run in terms of sizing? True to fit, small, or large?

I have the Knox Urbane Pro and Icon Mesh AF jacket both in XL. I use them with the back, shoulder, and elbow protectors inserted. I'm 5'9" at 195lbs. 44 chest / 34 waist. rolekl
I tried the Urbane Pro the other day. I also find it runs true to stated size. It was quite comfortable and fitted me well except that the material felt twisted and uncomfortable in the armpit. I think as a pure protective layer for "going for a EUC ride" it fits the bill very well. I wanted something slightly more low key for commuting etc so will be going for a Held Tropic 3.0 instead for the time being. A Knox Urbane Pro or perhaps a Knox Zephyr Pro which ups the protection somewhat may be what I'll reach for later. https://shop.held.de/en/clothes/textile-jackets/749/tropic-3.0?number=062030-00-1-S
jonm42
I just received my Urbane Pro + Kenton jacket (they were having a package deal). It got to Oregon from the UK in 2 days, and that was without bumping the shipping. They fit perfectly and are of seriously high quality. They even give you a garment bag to hang things in, along with coming on wooden hangers. Serious class act. Highly recommended!
