Nothing wrong with wanting to travel from point A to B in a shorter period of time. What saddens me most is that this accident could have been prevented.

Rehab1
Thanks for sharing @Hunka Hunka Burning Love. Eyewitness accounts always provide valuable information to any investigating party. The gentleman was very articulate throughout his report. I was not aware the pilot slowed the helicopter down to a hover. You need some form of visual reference while hovering to maintain control of the aircraft’s orientation even with IFR instrumentation. I lost my way once while flying special VFR due to dense fog and immediately landed in the median strip of an expressway. I never flew in fog again. Unfortunately the passengers onboard may have sensed something was wrong while the helicopter hovered in the zero visibility. So frightening!
Hunka Hunka Burning Love
If you click the text above the video it takes you to the Reddit discussion where a few experienced heli pilots give their opinions. There's some interesting info further down by someone who's very familiar with the Calabasas area.
