rojieh
I've never tried it for long distances, but I find that wearing dress shoes (Oxfords, vibram sole, padded insole, slight heel) is actually more comfortable than sneakers or other athletic shoes for unicycling. This youtube video shows a pro wearing something similar in some scenes. What is your favorite footwear for unicycling? I'm going to do about 15 miles today in the dress shoes to see what it is like. Popular Post houseofjob
I personally am not a fan of hard bottoms/boots for EUC, as they don't flex, and on EUC, I'm constantly one foot flexed on forefoot heel lifted up, and other foot planted on the heels (plus hard bottoms have no cushion, bleh). Although, if necessary, I can ride in them. But I know why guys who ride frankenstein-planted, unmoving feet, like hard bottom/boots, as they give you an unyielding, flat surface, which does not encourage bunching up and straining of the arches (root of all EUC foot pain). For me though, I prefer somewhere in the middle: old school, rubber/phylon based midsoles that have some flex, but aren't overly spongy, which can lose pedal feel. Also ones that don't ride too high, as that also loses pedal feel. Basically, any sneaker that is suited for skateboarding, like Jordan 1's, Vans, adidas Superstars & Stan Smiths, etc. BTW, Alex Segmüller always dresses like that, personally think for his "picking up" ladies on EUC schtick Edited December 14, 2019 by houseofjob
LanghamP
How good is the shoe for running off crashes? Once the rider has learned to ride one footed on either foot, then feet problems becomes a non-issue.
rojieh
I did about 20 miles yesterday and decided to try my Doc Martins instead since they have a nice cushion and a heel. Felt pretty good!

What is funny is Alex bounced on the Alexplatz trampoline, and when I visited that area I thought how nice my EUC would work there (before seeing his videos). null
Tried hard sole "dress" shoes once, I found it a bit scary that you can't feel the edge of the pedal as well. Had the constant impression that I could get too far over the edge without noticing. As for heels I tried with 4cm, that was also unsettling.
