Popular Post Rotem Yakir
Hey all, Unfortunately I live in a country that does not allow to import EUCs. This is why if you want to get an EUC you will need to buy it from someone that managed to smuggle in part by part. It is almost impossible to find an EUC that can get to more than 20 kmh not to mention a new one. Luckily, 2 months ago (after waiting a year) I managed to buy a used KS18L. In that time I wasn't in a position to assess the condition of the EUC and was just excited to buy one. 2 months passed and now I feel very comfortable with it and able to understand how it should feel. This is what I saw and felt: 1. The wheel was more aligned to the right side than the left one: https://share.icloud.com/photos/0G3etVuk6NHYm0iwt9xXe799w#Home 2. The padels were little bit wobbly 3. The rim was dented: https://share.icloud.com/photos/0FXWTKTM_swp8B1oATS3BTcSg#Home 4. And the biggest problem, the wheel made a chirping sound and vibration every time it finished a spin: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1mc_MtEH1Xr5OSUzDuVHyNlwfFeaCYY_v/view?usp=drivesdk Because there isn't any lab here that I can bring the wheel to it, I decided to open the wheel and see what is going on, this is what I found: 1. The plastic where the padels arms is cracked: https://share.icloud.com/photos/0FaPrdo11tscMj17KMRBhM3dw 2. The plate that connected to the engine was little bit loose and the padels arms had some gap to the plate: https://share.icloud.com/photos/0BKg1jidL2PqC-fWNY_3iDFyQ 3. The pivot of the engine was missing a bit of oil: https://share.icloud.com/photos/0JlmTWxk9n7dO5JLVznH8-RMg So after finding out all of this we (my father-in-law and I) started to work: 1. We used a crowbar to fix the dented rim (we did it very carefully) 2. We put oil in the engine pivot 3. We closed tightly the plate that was connected to the engine 4. We reconnected the padels arms to be as close as possible to the plate 5. We built a metal plate to reinforce the plastic that was connected to the padels arms: https://share.icloud.com/photos/0VyzZCyV9FU-W9Ns4pu3d9JE | https://share.icloud.com/photos/0yPMVNvWOWbd0Dzrpu07zPv9Q | https://share.icloud.com/photos/0ND1UdxmtdXD9KZK_n9stX8Zg And after 4 hours the EUC is now acting like a brand new wheel. I can't express how happy I feel right now. Thank you for hearing my story 😁 Edited December 7, 2019 by Rotem Yakir
RockyTop
Great Work! I like to hear happy endings. So I guess you have the fastest EUC in the country. It should be a good wheel. I am sure you will take better care of it than the previous owner.

Next job is to wrap it with chrome sticker 😱😁

I think that because there isn't any demand for it no one is starting the process of getting approval to import it from the office of devices. And you can't ship large batteries on planes anymore so you can't just fly it in and if you bring it by boat the customs will confiscate it. Really bad situation.
JimmyTheWheel
Thanks, for the detailed post. Unfortunately I have the same squeak on my V8 and just posted in here (after moderation). I'm gonna have to go deeper and take it apart, can I just ask when you say the "pivot of the engine" is that where the axle comes into contact with the wheel body? JimmyTheWheel
Brilliant, thanks! I’ll take a look in a couple of days and post my findings.
JimmyTheWheel
Apologies for the delay, been moving house - Alright, so pretty nerve racking but I'm not sure I've fixed it. Took the V8 apart using this video and it was obvious that water had gotten to the bearings and also starting to get into the hub https://share.icloud.com/photos/0PFEGE9cJ6r8G_1Xup7iXQ6Iw I used Silicone spray and grease to waterproof the whole thing, locking it up with thread lock and bearing lock. Unfortunately I didn't mark the hubs well enough to put them into their original positions. There was a tiny spot of rust on the rotor but nothing too bad. Anyway, swapped the bearings out and scoured everything back to new. First couple of rides that week were great. but then I noticed at certain speeds ~10MPH + I could hear a whirring on every rotation! unlike the squeaks/rubs before it, it seems more like and electrical whirring and it only happens at speed. So I have a couple of theories; I've been wearing my conduction headphones for too long and forgotten what my wheel sounds like I've over tighten the pedal nuts too much as shown here causing excessive pressure? I used a bench vice and they are a little less nut shaped now The axle is bent. I dropped in off a 12cm-15cm curb on one pedal and subsequently fell/walked off. I don't know how I would test for this? I've tiny introduce metal filings to the stator/rotor and its electrical whirring?? Other then this idk what it could be, any suggestions or theories?!
