Lillian
Welp, I love the presentation and specs. I don't ride fast. I didn't read through the thread. Is there another coming out in October?

Some thoughts on seeing the presentation: 'Inspiration' from the Z10: there's quite a bit of superficial resemblance with the Z10, especially the top cover & faux carbon fiber sides. Battery Pack: it's great they were able to fit a 1420Wh pack within the motor housing; Ninebot, in a wider 4" motor just managed to pack in 960Wh. This is going to keep the center of gravity lowered, improving the stability over other Inmotion Wheels. 18W/7800 Lux Headlight: this is an insane amount of light. To be effective, I feel they really ought to add a headlight pitch control knob, allowing the Rider to set their preferred angle of attack. Maybe add a light sensor on the front panel, dipping the beam when encountering an oncoming light source. Suspension: it's a pity the presentation didn't include any video clips showing this key feature in action, this is after all the main selling point of the V11. Price: in this current economic climate, a $2,300 price with these base specs is ambitious, it would be a lot more compelling with a <$2k introductory price. Handle: from the standpoint of efficiency, it's great! No internal precious space occupied by telescopic rails, unlike the V5F/V10, seems like a properly engineered solution, hopefully with minimal play in the upright position. Charging: it's disappointing that IM have never heard of a charger capable of more than 1.5A output before. Manufacturers out to recognize the charging capabilities of the actual cells, paring appropriate chargers, 8A @ 84v would be ideal here. Release date: target of late June, which means if everything goes to plan...., first units in Customers hands by early August. The modest V8F is currently running six months behind schedule. I'm sure IM will make extra efforts to ensure this new flagship release will run better, but in the minds of most Customers/Distributors, like myself, having this previous project run so far behind, is something that cannot be dismissed from thought. Kudos for Inmotion providing meaningful spec's. Although the range might at first be laughable, given the anemic battery capacity, I think it's realistic given their 150-pound rider weight and 12-mph speed I actually like the wheel and think it looks cool - a very masculine design. Unfortunately the big downers to me is the small battery capacity at a very steep price. I can live with a smallish battery on a smaller wheel. But on a 18-inch wheel in 2020? $2300???
mike_bike_kite
13 minutes ago, AtlasP said: Given that InMotion has achieved IP55+ ratings on all their wheels, presumably this will be the world's first 31 mph wheel with an IP55+ rating/the current fastest IP55+ rated wheel on the market. The waterproofing on their other wheels was certainly very good but if they have large vents for cooling running through the wheel then I'm curious how this wheel will keep waterproof. They seemed to added a lot of cooling to this particular wheel - is it to cool the new 12 mosfet motherboard or the new headlamp? 13 minutes ago, AtlasP said: People here criticizing the launch event--seriously? When was the last time Gotway or King Song did a publicly accessible launch event in English with as much detail? We should be applauding the effort and holding the other manufacturers to at least the same standard first. I think people have been very even handed especially considering we didn't even get to see the new wheel moving. Hopefully video of the wheel in action will get released shortly. RagingGrandpa
3 minutes ago, AtlasP said: Not seeing any mention here of arguably the single-most-significant advancement introduced--a BMS system which allows a whole pack to fail while still operating using the remaining pack(s)! That is a safety feature the likes of which has never been seen. It's a nice consideration, but is that really addressing a common reason for cut-out? I think of cut-out as a problem typically originating from broken wires or damaged semiconductors... packs degrade over time. And letting a user begin a ride with one pack failed seems worse than not beginning...
AtlasP
I just saw on their youtube InMotion confirmed this uses 21700 cells, which I believe then makes this the first 84v wheel using 21700 cells? (I believe all of the other Gotway wheels using 21700 cells were 100v.) Based on the diagram then it looks like 20s4p or 80x21700. Does that make any sense/look right? It was stated that the app will let you diagnose which pack is malfunctioning, so if the BMS is capable of determining on that level then the wheel itself could and almost-certainly will give you audible alarms (just like it does for overheat/overvoltage/etc). 5 hours ago, RagingGrandpa said: It's a nice consideration, but is that really addressing a common reason for cut-out? I think a large number of mysterious cut-outs/perceived overleans may be due to a minorly-dodgy cell/pack which has gone undiagnosed which compromises the max power/lowers its failure threshold. More data on this front (from people being able to check individual pack health in the app, both in general but in particular after an accident) can only be a good thing. Popular Post Jon Stern
$2,300 might sound expensive, but if that suspension works, my knees said they'll chip in a grand they've saved up from their weekly allowance (which they've not been spending due to being stuck at home). WaveCut
I did not set up my expectations very high so I’m satisfied with what I saw. Want to try it to decide if I want to trade my v8 3p in 😀
Popular Post Dave Wood
On a more simple note i hope they've somehow simplified the tire swap/repair procedure, its a pet peeve of mine that a tire repair on EUC's is a time consuming pain in the ass... wouldn't it be awesome if they somehow made access to tire easier and quicker!

mrelwood
1 hour ago, AtlasP said: All the current 16x3" wheels are really 17.25" in diameter. Meanwhile the Z10 was stated as 18x4.1" and is really 17.5" in diameter. With this being advertised as 18x3" it could very well be in the same 17.25-17.5" ballpark as those others--in fact it likely is. How the diameter value of a tire that follows the bicycle standard (all standard EUC tires) is reformed, doesn’t really make it possible though. The Z10 has a custom order tire with a very low sidewall height, which lowers the outer diameter much below what these standard balloony tires are capable of. We can see from the photos that the V11 has a regular profile 18x3” tire, just like the one on the MSX. I’m sorry but if you are hoping for a 16x3” sized tire, you will be disappointed.
Popular Post Asphalt
Looks like one-button operation like other InMotion wheels, so toggling high beams will likely be a long-press, like the V8. I wonder if if day-time running lights are always on, or if it’s a multi-long-press toggle through various light modes? I like that the battery indicator is visible while riding.
Popular Post Nic
I hope they improve the battery indicator to show more than 20% increments as that is pretty useless. They should borrow from Xiaomi M365 Pro scooter, which also only has 5 levels for battery indicator, but it can show 10 levels by blinking the segment when is drops by 10%. For example, 3 LEDs ON equates to 40-60% using InMotion method, but using Xiaomi method 3 LEDs ON would be 50-60% and if the 3rd LED is blinking then that would indicate 40-50%, hence we can indicate 10 levels using just 5 LED segments. With a firmware update they could update the battery level indicator on their existing EUCs. Edited April 3, 2020 by Nic
Elliot_Mess
Looks interesting. I will have to see reviews for sure. The suspension is exciting. I don't mind the design but still think the MSX and Z10 are the best looking wheels.

Popular Post Girth Brooks
The amazing thing for all the folks bitching about a wheel with an "unnecessary/overcomplicated suspension" is that there's literally the entire EUC market outside this one soon to be product to choose from. I applaud InMotion for pushing a radical new feature in a largely featureless market. I have some doubts it'll be as great as they hope, but also hope I am wrong about that. Not all of us want to ride on pavement for 50+ miles at a time. I can't wait to see it go through the reviewers like Chooch and company.

I heard same thing about Z10 at first and again on the Nikola and again on KS16x. Thing is most people don't like chane in general. But once people get used to the new it becomes the "old" usual... There are things I like a lot some that are okey and a few disappointment..(maybe). First impression is very brief. On paper..so and so.In real world use..practicality...we really don't know anything yet. And to me practicality is what matters most.

Sebrios
I wasn't impressed with the specs either. HOWEVER, something I was thinking about a few mins ago, is that they spec the wheel @50km/h GW and KS spec theirs at 20mph. Remember one thing is what the specs say, and a VERY DIFFERENT what the wheel can actually do. Hoping to see some Russians do a scary speed test to know the reality.

Suspension have resonance frequency so you could end up in a really bad situation if you are unlucky. It is more than power delivery to worry about.
