Shad0z
Basically around the 6 screws that hold the shell to the motor assembly there are cracks. It started with ine crack. Then another. Then 3 others. Then a major one going from the wall under the battery to the corner of the plastic around the pedal pillars. I know i could just change shell. But i would rather repair it and make it last some more time until a better wheel comed out. Then i would change the shell and resell. Any tips for how to repair the cracked plastic? Hi @Shad0z while back @esaj had plastic welding post. I think it involved Acetone.

s.m.
I used Ponal Duo to reinforce my shell around the holes. Amazon link

Imho there was also a report of how to put threated metal inserts into the plastic shells and replace the screws. Could be a nice idea once you repair your shell. Comenzó con ine crack. Luego otro. Hi, I sent you a link to get an idea of what I am going to explain. I have joined plastic putting some small nails between the broken or cracked plastics as if they were staples and with a soldering iron the nail is heated and little by little it is embedded in the plastics, then with the same welder you distribute the plastic covering the nail and It is quite resistant. But this I have not done in the MSX housing, I do not know if it endured enough. I did it in a small piece of plastic completely divided into three pieces that holds the trolley bars, and it looked very good. But the load it has to bear is not the same as the housing. Shad0z
Thank you all for the ideas. I will be sure to use some of them. So far i just reinforced the areas with cracks with epoxy and fiberglass. But made sure to cover a good area around it aswell
Max Ramsey
Also drill the ends of the crack out if you can, it should stop the crack spreading. Its commonly done in aviation to stop cracks in acrylic canopies from spreading.
Marty Backe
One of my ACM shells (only one half) almost totally deteriorated. I formed brackets from flat aluminum bar stock and machine screws and fender washers to reattach the shell to the pedal hanger. It's been holding just fine, and I ride this wheel on trails in the mountains.
who_the
Great job @Marty Backe, once again going where Gotway should have gone in the first place, with some sort of metal cap or bracket over the pedal hanger assembly to dissipate and distribute forces that eventually destroy just about every seriously ridden MSX or Monster I've ever seen, and certainly those that I have owned. Hoping this is an area for growth with Gotway in the future.

Shad0z
the side that is cracking is the control board side. so i dont have much space for metal, im counting on the fiberglass and epoxy

Formé soportes a partir de barras de aluminio planas y tornillos de máquina y arandelas de guardabarros para volver a colocar la carcasa en el soporte del pedal. Se ha mantenido bien, y me monto en esta rueda por senderos en las montañas. Very good, you're a phenomenon !!!

But its the pastic the the screws hold that is breaking
Rafal
Use 3d pen with ABS/PLA/Nylon and you will have even stronger shell. I repaired my Tesla like that and have great results. If you are talented you can do amazing things with 3d pen
GaryL
If the shell is made of ABS, you can make some ABS glue. I used ABS waste from my 3d printer and mixed it with acetone in a small jar. The more acetone you use, the more runny it is. I mixed mine to the consistency of Elmer's glue and applied it with a popsicle stick or screwdriver. It bonds with abs parts well. A few dabs of straight acetone (using a q-tip) on the part before applying the ABS slurry also helps to get a good bond. Not sure if this is helpful, but I wanted to share my experience with ABS repairs.
